He was the absolute front runner but pulled out due to the stuff brewing with Prince and all the backdoor money buy out. Remember Zeng knew people on the inside and when he got info how bad it was he didn't want the job

I will admit, AD Currie has done a very good job for KSU, but as mentioned Zenger was #1 on the list for the KSU gig.

From the start, many of us have wanted Zenger. Sure we knew he was the original #1 guy for KSU during their search, but much for the same reason he was that for KSU, he fit for KU. He is a great fit for any University in the State of Kansas to be honest.

  :surprised:
Looks legit guys

'Grats, Beems.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

That hawkdoctor sure gets to the bottom of things. Most likely floats in the same "never been laid" ship as Zeng.

Being uberEMAW would probably get in the way of AD duties at K-State.  :users:

Back from Zenger press conference   Reply

Home run.

He understands Kansas. He understands the people and traditions of KU. He has been in fund-raising. He has been a coach and knows what it takes to win. He's been around some good ball coaches.

He wanted to be at Kansas. Like I have said before this was my favorite guy. I will have some video up in a bit. When he speaks he means it with sincerity.

One thing I can say and I have heard this from people who know him well, he is a COMPETITOR.

I'm going to give props to the chancellor. I have read on this board about people knocking her. She is not an AD. A lot of chancellors aren't. They are academics people. I sat 10 feet from Mrs. Gray-Little. She did just fine. She's not supposed to get up there and wow you with speeches. There was no problem with how she handled herself and I give her credit.

I also credit her because she put Ray Evans in charge. I have known Evans for some time. He handled this things professionally and with great care. I know there are a lot of people who love KU sports or you wouldn't be on this site. But there are very few who care about Kansas like Evans does.

Somebody posted a week or so ago whether he got paid for this. He did not. He runs a company and has kids. He took a lot of time over the last four months to run the search.

There were a lot of media people in that press conference that were gushing afterwards about the hire. Zenger covers about every angle Kansas would want in their athletic director.

Now that ku posters are making up stories that KSU wanted this guy, it has become the best bbs'ing since Selby being paid.

Congrats BEEMS!

that's what they wanted with this hire.  the last couple perkins years scared their hayseed donors off cityfolk for a decade.

John Currie:  All time record donations, All Time Record Gross and Net Profits, took a $20 million dollar project that was dead in the water 18 months ago to a project currently under final State Review for bid.    Took an athletic department that was $2.4 million in the red, to $11 plus million in the black in 1 Fiscal Year.   Has a $50 million dollar football stadium project being designed and already approved by the Board of Regents.

Zenger as head of "major gifts" at K-State . . . could barely bumble his way through to get enough gifts to renovate Vanier during postive economic times after a Big 12 Championship.

Did not want Max Urick Jr. at K-State.

Nice guy though.

Oh, not even considered by UPKS for the KSUAD job.

What's worse having to sandbag the Prince issue awhile before settling it, or pretty much needing to gas the leader of your football program before you ever watched him coach a down?

Must hurt pretty bad knowing that one of your own turned down K-State, only to ultimately end up at KU.

Must hurt pretty badly to go from "Lew is building a monster" to Sheahon Zenger.

Going from the sitting AD at UConn a BCS Conference School, to the sitting AD at . . . Illinois "everybody has to start somewhere" State, and during the process getting rejected by the Athletic Director at . . . TULSA . . . TULSA!!
