Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I have never decanted wine....benefits?

Keeps the sediment in the bottom of the decanter and aerates the wine.

i decant more often than not.  no reason not to.

white vinegar works well to clean decanters.

True, except you kinda lock yourself into drinking the entire bottle then.  Wine really deteriorates after like 8 hours of exposure to air.  Course, I usually will drink the entire bottle at one time anyways..

After wine sits in a corked bottle for the better part of a decade it can start to smell and taste like your shoes the day after you've waded around in Tuttle Creek Res. and then you didn't let them dry out properly. Unless the bottle has completely turned, a little aeration will help eliminate this problem. A decanter helps you aerate.

I buy box wine.  Specifically "Black Box."  I am not ashamed to say it.  Stays fresh and takes pretty darn good.

If you're not ashamed to say it but ashamed for people to see your box of wine then a decanter may be just what you need.
