Got the Asus Transformer on Saturday, CNET had it rated higher than both Samsung Tablets, so far so good  we'll see how this progresses
gonna get a tablet for the family to share (kids games, videos, etc.) and trying to decide between the transformer infinity, nexus 10 and the ipad.  I'd kind of rather stick with google/android and not venture into the apple world but it really seems like the ipad has more options in terms of apps and definitely has the best reviews.  really torn here.

researched this today for my buddy, and came away thinking th Infinity was the best choice for him.  They don't need DLNA, but did want a dock.    The Nexus 10 doesn't seem to be getting as good of reviews as the 7 (due to it being a different manufacturer).

The Transformers supposedly have pretty bad performance issues. I about jumped on the TF300 deal, but went Nexus 10 instead. The Infinity and the N10 are definitely the top 2 out there. If you want a dock, its an obvious choice. I'd rather have great sound and up to date android.

Amazon may already be selling its Kindle range at cost, but here's your chance to snag one for even less. The e-tailer's knocking a cool 50 bucks off the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD just for today -- valid on both the WiFi-only and the 4G LTE editions. Just use the code FIREHD89 while checking out and you can save enough to get rid of those pesky ads, load it up with apps, and still have some left over for a few literary classics.

Anybody with more technology IQ have some recent advice on these?  My little bro is walking through Bramlage next weekend and wants one of these for continuing his education.  He's going to Cleveland Chiropractic next year and apparently everyone has one that they use for doing chiro learning/training related thingys.  He doesn't want any of that mac crap.  I have a med school friend that uses an HP Elite Tablet PC.  One of those thats screen flips around or you can use its' keyboard just like a laptop.  Should that be the one to go with?  Thoughts, advice, criticisms, witty banter and snide remarks all welcome TIA.

Giftcard that will cover most of them.  Then he can ask the other Cleveland Chiro ppl what they recommend and get that.

RickRampus, I have a Fire HD, and my wife has a Galaxy 10 as well as a new iPad.  She likes the iPad like 10x more than the other two, FWIW

Torrent to MP4 to Kindle HD supposedly.  I haven't tried it.  Some forums I have read say that this is the best way but that some movies have a ratio issue and look just slightly off.

Again, I haven't tried it.

I have watched several movies that I rented off of Amazon on the Fire HD and it is really crisp and clear.  Really good display, imo.

Also, the sound is pretty good too.

My employee stock plan thinks you should go with the HP Elite Tablet.

thanks in advance

Get the newest iPad. If you really really don't want to that, get a nexus 10 or Galaxy Tab or whatever Asus has oy right now. If you are looking for the best value, get a nexus 7.

If you want a netbook, there are better keyboards, if you want a tablet, there are better tablets. The concept is great... But they just aren't there yet. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy a surface right now. It's a very niche product in its current form.

i have a surface rt. its a lot nicer than my nexus 10 or nexus 7. Honestly though tablets are stupid. I never use any of them, I just buy them for the hell of it. Nice ultrabook with a touch screen is the go to portable solution.

I didn't care much for the hardware of the surface rt. That resolution is awful.
