If we don't land one of these guys it means nothing.  No one will remember or care about these mentions.

Completely different beast, but Frank needs to cash in this is his fourth spring and as many players who have gotten Franked he has to, at some point, improve on what left.

Especially Jeter. He played only about six minutes in the first half because of two fouls. He had only four points in the first two quarters, but came alive in the second half with 15 to finish with a game-high 19 points. He also pulled down 11 rebounds.

Why are we always trying to go head to head with Wisconsin?

Because.  Eventually, we will beat them at something.  And it will be awesome.  So rough ridin' awesome.

Spoke to the 'local legend' guy out here about Jeter.  He said he thought he could be good player at the next level.  For a 6'7 kid he handles the ball pretty well, and plays on the perimeter as well as he plays down low.  I said I assumed that since he was 6'7 he probably just dominated down low at the high school level, and he said he can, but plays a fair amount on the perimeter and shoots the 3 pretty well. Wisconsin is on him so that's a good sign, but I see that Pitt hasn't offered him and he's in their backyard.  So who knows, he very well could just be Southwell 2.0, which is still a nice player, but nothing to go crazy over.  Oh and he's a cousin of Lance Jeter, not brother, which I think I might have said earlier.

I thought I heard Southy had decent perimeter skills in high school. I am probably misremembering.

Yes, that's what I mean. Said he could play "all three perimeter positions". Just because they are nearly the same size, doesn't mean they are similar players. Sounds more like Jeter should get bigger (and hope he grows) and try to play like Jamar as a face up 4.

Yeah, of the 2, would much rather have Walker. Jeter would still be a step up from pretty much any other Frank spring signee.

LBRIQ here, but I've always wondered.  How is it that when you look at where some of these guys are from, it has like 4 different places?

Example:

Laimonas Chatkevicius is listed as (Klaipeda, Lithuania/South Kent [Conn.] Prep, MoKan Elite).

Wasn't Bill listed as being from Ohio and West Va too?

Is it common for these kids to go to school in say, Connecticut but play AAU ball somewhere so far away?  I know nothing about AAU bball, so this may be common.  I'm just Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) when it comes to bball recruiting.

Lots of these guys go to multiple high schools or prep schools.

There's a lot of reasons, and obviously they are dependent on the player and the situation. In today's state of the game, I think the most common is the player's "handlers" -usually through their AAU team, have ID'd what they believe is a better situation for the player and the move is made, usually to a program school with a pre-existing relationship with the handlers. A lot of times these moves are made not necessarily because of bad blood at the old school, but to gain more exposure and notoriety for the prospect.

Academics is another big reason. If a player has not qualified to play college ball or is not on track to do so, the common route is to send them to a prep school, where the player gets away from his home environment and can focus on school and is ostensibly provided with a better college preparatory setting. Prep schools are also a common route to get a player bigger and stronger before arriving on campus. Jordan Henriquez went to a prep school in MA after his SR yr of HS and I'm not sure the exact reason was ever articluated but I think it's worked out well for all parties involved.

Discipline is also another reason. Our boy Beasley, EMAW bless him, ran into trouble a few times(nothing seriously legal as far as I know), he wound up attending 6 different high schools.

Walker and Mayo are kind of their own unique story, if you're really interested in it, just google them, Dwayne Barnes, and Rodney Guillory and you'll find all sorts of crap - much better than I could tell it.

So there you go

1. Better situation
1a. More exposure, notoriety
2. Academics
3. Develop more physically
4. Discipline

Just to clarify, Walker and Guillory were never associated with each other, and I've never really heard anyone hint that they might be.

If it appeared that I was trying to lump them together, I was not, poor writing on my part.

Per update below, Walker has 7'1" wingspan, underwent a big growth spurt entering HS. Having already visited Alabama and UCF, KSU and Clemson are desired schools to visit in near future:

"The Winter Haven senior is an all-around talent fitting the quintessential mold of an Anthony Grant type basketball player. An abnormal wing span of 7 feet, 1 inch allows the 6-6, 190-pound Walker to be a menacing defender capable of harassing the opposition on the perimeter or near the goal. “He came to me as a freshman at 5-9 when the season started. He grew six inches in three months,” Woodside said."
