the player you are talking about can be found maybe once in a pool of 1000 of those listed at 6'8" to 6'10".

i'm claiming that Diaz or Moose will play that role.  is the quote referring to Cortesia?   maybe Frank or assistants didn't see him as the right fit.  or maybe you are right - it was a bone for MoKan.

blindly i'll take a Lithuanian's offensive skill set over a Venezuelan's 100% of the time.  i've seen neither of them play so  :dunno:

also JO only has 1 year left so i don't mind having 3 options to fill his spot in 2013 with 2 sophomores and 1 junior.   none of the 3 are guaranteed to be here in year 2013 so the staff may also be hedging their bets.

could prob use a 6'-9" ball handler/shooter/slasher more

lol.  who did you have in mind.  Kevin Garnett?  Diaz and Moose might fit this description better.  i'm assuming Moose can shoot since he's European. and Diaz doesn't have the true 7 ft size like JO and has played the 4 this year.

and Moose, like Diaz, is listed at 6'10"

From the thread on this site first discussing him:
Quote
"I think the biggest thing is his versatility," said first-year Lee coach Andrew Papaefthemiou. "He will play one through four for us. He can shoot and pass the basketball and his overall skill set is probably the best the school has ever seen."

Not saying I buy into what his coach sold, but it def establishes an idea of what the kid is.  If he is indeed such a player, again, wouldn't it be better to have someone of that skill set than a fourth guy who plays a 7'er role?(also, College coaches talk about a lot of kids as being 7' are really 6-10" or 6'-11". They lie about height, it's what they do.)

I've read a few updates where they question Cortesia's defense.  I'm sure Frank has taken that into consideration.  Frank also mentioned that when you get into those trench wars with teams like Wisconsin, having big guy after big guy really makes a difference.

Also, I like the idea of having a guy with a European skill set at the five controlling the ball at the elbow like DOB does.  In the videos I've seen, Moose can pass the ball pretty well.  I think we can really move the ball around well when he's in there.

I think Moose can probably play a four to Upshaw's five.  The staff also may think Upshaw isn't necessarily a four year guy, either.

I doubt they laid off of him because of his defense at a prep school.  Defense is easily the most teachable aspect of basketball for a freshman.  Any basketball player on any level can be taught to be a serviceable defender.

Just throwing it out there.  No idea.  We just dropped him.

Is Kennedy still at Ole Miss?  Did Frank steer him to Kennedy?

Kennedy and Sergio Rouco both have pretty strong ties to Frank, when basically every report beforehand said APJC was KSU's to lose, the evidence does appear to be that KSU funnelled him to Ole Miss in some capacity.

kstate just didn't think he is that good.  they're probably going to end up being right.

outside of some rando writing a piece that he looked smooth and tall during some shoot around and another guy saying he has potential I don't think there has been any evidence whatsoever that APJC is any good.  stat line was garbage at his prep school.

just some worthless information...willie cauley is playing football this year.  apparently he's been unstoppable at wr.  bball coaches are pissed.  fball coach doesn't give a crap, wants to figure out how to use willie as much as possible (i see a jump ball offense in their future).  willie doesn't particularly like to play bball...it's his 3rd favorite sport.  if he can somehow play his way into a d1 fball scholly, he will jump at it.  just what i'm hearing, thought i would share, probably all lies and bullshit

This is such a horseshit statement. Cauley is gosh darned 6'10" tall. Can you name another 6'10" player in College Div I football? You can't because they don't exist because they're not athletic enough for that size to fit into a proper position. A 6'10" wide receiver would be an absolute joke.

What a joke of a statement by fuktard.

Willie Cauley named All Metro:

WIDE RECEIVER Willie Cauley, Olathe Northwest, senior. Half of the tandem chosen as the U.S. Air Force Precision Air Strike of the Year as the best passing combo in Kansas (with quarterback Dalton Rook), Cauley hauled in 64 passes for 1,265 yards and 15 touchdowns. An Otis Taylor Award finalist, Cauley has signed with Kentucky for basketball.

Not K-State related (too good for us ) but 2012 worthy:

UNLV lands this transfer

Hey, since we've moved transfer talk to this thread, Jamal Branch (formerly of A&M) committed to St John's.

Makes UNLV a better team, staying home becomes more persusive.  No personal relationship I know of.  UK mb's worried about Muhammad and Bennett staying home for a F4 run.

This guy transferring from UK, he's from Florida so naturally he should be on any illegitimate K-State wish list.

Momentum and stuff

Quote
Asked what the addition of Birch means to UNLV, Ron Holmes, Muhammad’s father, told SNY.tv, “‘Bazz wants to go to a program that has a chance to win a national championship. UNLV is putting the pieces together to be in that position. They are close to home and have a great style of play. Getting players like Khem Birch only strengthens UNLV in the eyes of Shabazz.”

And hey, guess who ran AAU this past year with Muhammad? Our boy Robert Upshaw, that's who.*

Upshaw checks in at 59 in ESPN's latest update(He's 40 and 43 on Scout and Rivals respectively).

I'd probably be neglecting my duty if I didn't point out 63 on this list.

Is there like a guard that can shoot, handle, and play decent D out there that we can trade Spradling for or something?

Does he? Looks plenty athletic, decent looking shot from deep, looks like he can take it strong to the rim and finish, BUT it's really tough to make an overall evaluation/determination based on a highlight vid that's 1:20 long.

When the recruiting guys saw Sadler's team play, I tried to ask them what they thought about him and the collective response was "who's that?" You have keep in mind he was playing on a team with an absolutely loaded backcourt, so that probably played a part, but he wasn't a guy they immediately labeled "4 star lock" either.

That was an impressive 1:20. I would love to see more of this guy.

If his recruitment is indeed wide open, then it sounds like KSU has stopped recruiting him... as last fall he openly said he was going to play basketball at KSU.  That 1:20 highlight reel sure looked good though.  Would like to see more.
