In what medium is Upshaw announcing?

at his school library in fresno, california.
"a garden city man wondered in april if the theologians had not made a mistake in locating the garden of eden in asia rather than in the arkansas river valley."

I can hardly imagine a person I'd like to watch sports with less with than a Jhawks Cards fan.  I bet he's a Packers or Cowboys fan as well.

Upshaw isn't just 6-foot-10, he plays to every bit of that size, if not bigger, and is a true back-to-the-basket five-man. The junior isn't a speed merchant, but he's a terrific low post defender, has some soft touch on offense and plays hard. Most importantly, he's a scrapper and there isn't anybody near him getting a rebound in his area unless they can beat him in a street fight.

 :D

So he's basically Freddy Asprilla.

I tremendously enjoy the fact that the term "speed merchant" was used in this description.

It's K-State selection day for Mr. Upshaw!

What an elite recruit.

i do wish he was somewhat of a speed merchant though.

Mr. Upshaw, or Mt. Upshaw, as I like to call him, appears to have a little nasty in him.

Gipson and now Upshaw?  Wow, the paint enforcement department just got real beefy.  Yep, just imagine these two brutes manning the low block over the course of the next few years.

It's been noted that "he's not a speed merchant", but maybe Greenawalt can make him faster.  If he does, look out!

ya i just sent Greeny an email.  my suggestion is to hook upshaw up to one of those mini-parachutes similar to what comes out of the back of a high speed drag racer.  make him wear it all the time, to class, to aggieville, to the rec, during practice, etc.

eventually his body will become used to the wind resistance from wearing the chute.  once we take the chute off of him for game times  he will move much faster.  hope Greeny gets my email and considers it.

I like it when he dribbles in from the 3-pt line and dunks it. Really, just when he dunks it in general.

Good job, pissclams.  Let us know if Greeny gets your e-mail and responds back.

Right now it appears speed is the only thing holding Mt. Upshaw back.  Right now he's a merchant of dunks and physical intimidation and mid-range jumpshots.  Make him a merchant of speed and look out, folks!

Wow, 100 schools!!!

 :excited:

It seems like it's been a while since the State of Kansas has seen an elite recruit like this commit to one of its member college basketball institutions.  Good day for college basketball in the State of Kansas in general.

we actually didn't even recruit him.  he just picked us, and frank and staff just rolled with it.

Would love to know how we got our foot in the door on this one, we just popped up on his list in August and never looked back. I know Martin and Evans were his primary recruiters and conducted the in-home visit.

Is Evans tight with somebody who's part of Dream Vision(Upshaws' AAU club)?  :dunno:

starting to look like the cats picked upshaw over cauley forcing cauley to go to uk. kind of sucks cause i'd love to have local kids on the team but if one player is clearly better than the other then i think you have to take the good player and let the local kid go.

Sometimes when you walk into the showroom, you just pick the Lambo instead of the Ferrari.  Maybe it has better tires or a nicer steering wheel, or it just "feels better" when you take it for a test drive.  It's not to say the Ferrari is a bad car, it's just that you can't have both.  This appears to be what happened.

Could be looked at in positive terms too.  Depends on how you look at it.
