on the nat'l board, bossi reported that perez cortesia will be attending word of life in wichita for his sr year.

for mokan watchers, he also said that morillo would be playing there.  that may have already been known, i can't recall.

Watch out Sunrise Christian, there is a new playa on the block.

I'm just itching for both of these schools to release their schedules for the upcoming season so I can be sure to set aside time on my calendar to watch that epic clash.*

*Not joking. One bit. :blank:

New update over on Jayhawk Slant says he's got one in-home visit scheduled with UNC and will unofficially visit Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Texas. Once the school year starts he will start taking his official visits which he said he will visit KU and UNC.

secondhand smart update from a ku poster on the rivals nat'l board.

According Gold Coast AAU coach Jared Lazarus, 6'10 post Ty Haughton (Dr.Krop/FL) is hearing most from Alabama, SCarolina and UConn.

indication of coaching staff's confidence?  or just stupid?

More rankings, this time Schwartz takes a stab at it:

18. Ellis - Is there a more divisive figure in the Class of '12 rankings?  :ohno:
21. Smart - A visit, huh? Once he gets here, our goal should be to never let him leave.
31. Cauley
41. DSR
50. Nnoko - A goEMAW favorite but not a KSU Cat favorite at the moment.

Kinda surprised that Orlando-based Schwartz didn't give any love to Henry, he's not jumping on the Forte/TX Assault bandwagon either.

James is a definite head scratcher, pretty much no effort, I really got nothing there.

Haughton would appear to be as close to a sure thing as there is(even with Shakey leaving Krop), I do remember on a UF board a couple months back they talked about he had a long way to go in the classroom. Maybe that's got something to do with it but obviously not scaring off other big-time programs.

Rankin better watch out, Genius is on the TB trail now:

"Best Travel Team

Genius: I’m basing my selection on who I think would win a tournament right now if every team in the state entered. Based on their talent level and success in July, I think Team Breakdown would win such a tournament. They were not as dominate in the spring but won the Showtime Ballers Tournament (FL), Final Four at Big Shots Southern Shootout (GA), Sweet 16 at King James (OH) and had several players recognized by national scouts in the process. Most travel teams in Florida would take that resume for the entire summer. They have size in the front court with 6’10 Tonye Jekiri, 6’8 Demetrius Henry, 6’9 Kendric Ferrara, and 6’9 Antravious Simmons. In the backcourt they have an explosive scorer in Stephon Moody, a defensive stopper in Marcus Maye and guys that play tough at both ends of the court in Brandon Channer, Jakari Bush and Mike Calder. Throw in super soph Richard Lee and prep school bound A.J. Astroth who was my “Breakout Player of the Spring/Sumer” regardless of class and you have a deep and talented team. They won the Big Shots Slam in South Carolina, their own Breakdown Hoops Festival, finished 2nd at the Fab 48 in Las Vegas despite losing two starters to injury and then reached the final eight in the Dual in the Desert Tournament after losing another player to injury."

bossi talks a lot about kstate.  to me the most interesting item was the mention of a possible visit from wainright.  kstate has seemingly gone out of their way to slap him in the face with their lack of recruitment, so it'd be a change to see them start to go after him with any vigor.

When it comes to discussing Smart and where he may be leaning, there's a constant thought that the Longhorns are likely the team to beat. After that, though, it's a recruitment where, depending on who you talk to, you get very different stories.

Some people say that Smart is absolutely a package deal with summer and high school teammate Phil Forte, others say they won't be a package deal.

More recently, Kansas State has been generating a lot of behind-the-scenes buzz and it's more than likely that the Wildcats will receive a visit from both Smart and Forte. Others in the mix include A&M who along with Oklahoma is hoping to secure a return official visit after a recent unofficial visit.

Quote
Kansas State has fully locked in on in-state big man Willie Cauley and more and more they look to be emerging as the team to beat for the four-star near seven-footer. Kentucky, Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma State among others are giving a strong chase, but the Wildcats were the first to offer and have spent the most time with him.

As mentioned earlier, the Wildcats look like a strong candidate to receive official visits from Marcus Smart and Phil Forte. Look for class of 2013 four-star wing Malcolm Hill to visit in September and fellow 2013 four-star wing Ishmail Wainright could be stopping by Manhattan next week before he leaves his Kansas City home to attend Rockville (Md.) Montrose Christian. The Wildcats get their chance to pitch Perry Ellis when they conduct a September 12th in home visit with him.

in non kstate news, bossi also discusses isu's quality recruiting in ny and the northeast in general.  although not entirely new, it's interesting to see them so focused and successful there.
