Just as long as the PM is good news, I can wait ... like a day.   :users:

bossi update on smart.  nothing new.

Quote
According to Smart -- who is currently ranked #22 in the class or 2012 -- he's been offered by pretty much the entire Big 12 and that seems to be where most of his focus is...

"I could do without (the attention) sometimes, but my family helps me out," said Smart.

smith makes "whispers"; hope he doesn't see the martin halftime alcorn state clip.

Smith told Rivals.com that Kansas State's style of play is attractive to him.

Thoughts on where he ends up in a revised 150? 50-100?  100-150?

I was honestly hoping for a little higher than 91, by my estimation that puts him in about the Top 125-140 range on the ESPN rankings, jumper from deep may not be as money as I originally thought(damn highlight vids) but it's good hear from reliable sources that he's a worthy high major talent.

Considering that ESPN eval on Smith was done by Dave Telep, i'm not expecting a lot of deviation from the Rivals guys, but Meyer comparing him to Selby was eye-catching, so there's a chance the Rivals guys are higher on him than Telep. Top 100 from Rivals?  :crossfingers:

i'd say 75-125 range.  probably the upper end of that.  if he was top 50ish, they'd have gone wild on twitter talking to each other about "discovering" him.  if he were closer to 150, they'd be more guarded about saying he'd definitely make the next list.

Just walked in to the flower mound tournament and sitting in front of the Marcus bench is none other than Roy Williams from unc.

Alabama and unc both made the journey to see Marcus smart and Julius randle. May be the best we've seen Zach peters play in two years.

A very long list from Torian Graham but very surprisingly no mention of Kansas State.

It's pretty clear from the staff's actions that there's only going to be two players in that class: Marcus Smart or Shawn Smith and Perry Ellis or AJPC.  Why worry about anyone else?  Also, sad to see that League Minimum couldn't be found within a 1000 miles of DC Classic.

that phrase was still in the context of the staff's POV.  i don't think they are all THAT serious about cauley, especially with diaz coming in next year.

who knows?  i don't see the need either, but every indication is that they are pursuing him as hard as anyone.

whether they mean to or not, the staff helps generate interest in players they'll take a pass on.  if we look like we are really interested in some MOKAN guys, especially the lower level ones, other schools are going to look at them too.  for the supposed 47th best prospect in his class, cauley's offers aren't that great.

cauley doesn't fit the profile of a guy we're recruiting as a favor.  That Brandon Bass kid and uniball dude are good examples - the staff has been on Cauley since undy stepped on campus.

true.  they aren't the offers of a charity case either, though.

you don't have to be a pauper to receive charity.  i think there was real, genuine interest in cauley when he was an 8th grader/freshman, just because of his size/potential.  now that he's more of a known quantity, i don't think the staff feels the same way.

We loved him when we thought it was a big rough ridin' secret.

So the staff no longer feels like it needs the talents of a top 50 player or do they just not like the kid personally?
