hey sd, do you cancel your existing us air before you apply for your new one?  getting ready for my first churn on this card.

Just got my SW card in the mail and they put Gooch's RR number on it so I think that means my points can go to his account. We should get to the 110K points very soon.

hmmm, let us know if that works. and let the record show that I don't think it will.

Yeah, it did not work. They sent me a letter saying I wasn't going to get my 50K points; so I had to call and tell them the RR number I put in was an error and they set me up my own RR account with 50K points in it.

BOA is a terrible piece of crap.  First they lock out my online billing due to an error.  So I call them and they say its a mistake and they will fix it but it will take a few days, so I decide to make the payment online.  So its a couple days later and I hop online to check my account, the person input an extra 0 on my payment so I now have a 15000 credit on my card.  So I call support and they forward to me another department.  They ask for my card information on the automated process and that tells me my card is closed.  Their phone system screws up and disconnects me.  By the time I call back and get through the prompts, they are done for the weekend.

They better be offering me a big chunk of Virgin Atlantic points for this crap.

yeah boa cards are a rough ridin' joke. their online system is from the dark ages and nobody knows crap at customer service. you just have to churn and burn and get it over quick.

I work in a customer service type field so I usually try to be as pleasant as possible, but this is terrible.  Now my payments for my other CCs that I made after BOA screwed up are all going to be returned, causing Chase to charge me and my bank to charge me.  I can't believe that a CC just has no customer service that can help me over a weekend.  Ridiculous.

so who screwed up?  how did the extra 0 get on there? did you call or do it online?  if they're truly the ones that mumped up and you can prove it wasn't you then I would call and keep elevating your complaint as high up as you can go.  they should pay for all of your fees.

what's the window/timeline looking like for USAirways to AA points?  Are the 35k/no fee or 40k/fee offers dead?

BOA is completely worthless.  Finally have a support person call me back after the weekend, today and not Monday, and they fully admit their mistake and say they can't do crap for 10 days.  Going to be calling them daily to yell at them now.  It didn't bother me at first because I figured it would be fixed by now and they would compensate me.  Now it is bothering me.

Just tried for a 55k UA card w/ $1000 spend in 3 months. tried the trick in post 1654:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milesbuzz/1330475-ua-mileage-explorer-card-offer-up-60k-miles-now-65k-50-statement-credit-111.html

I won't be able to know the bonus until I call the rep when I activate. Hope it works. Also, why do those dickheads do the post number instead of links or quotes? eff off with that crap.

hadn't seen that. report back on results please. I can't do another United explorer for awhile as mrs. dave and I each got it about 1 1/2 years ago. I've been waiting for their ridiculous $500 annual fee bastard of a card to go fee free first year with a good bonus but I doubt it ever does.

that's what I'm asking. With chase, it's exactly five years after you cancel before you can get the bonus again?

oh, sorry, I don't know if there is a hard and fast official waiting period. I mean, there probably is but I don't know what it is. from what I've read it's about 5 years. Amex is good because they will usually tell you in the terms how long you have to have gone without having the same bonus. on the recent 50k Gold Amex offer it said in the terms you couldn't have had the same product in the last year.

So, I paid my state taxes yesterday and noticed that there was an option to pay using a credit card. I owed about $4000 and thought putting it on the card would be a great way to get a free vacation out of the deal. The service charge for using the card was about $100, though, (thanks, Obama) so I decided to just pay out of my bank account. Just for future reference, is there a card out there that I could have signed up for and gotten a reasonable vacation out of despite having to pay the extra $100?

I know I'm new to this credit card deal, but $100 seems like a pretty cheap vacay imo  :dunno:

Yeah, but I guess the question is really whether $4000 is enough to put on a credit card and actually go some place nice.

If I was wanting to hit min spends, I would put it on CC.  If I was just getting base points, I would save the $100
