The boards have confirmed the "miles in the account right now" and not "miles spent on the card card" is the requirement so, bsacially, Capital One has no idea what's going on and flyertalk'ers are going to rape them.

I am somewhat following this but have no idea Wtf is going on. Can you give me a quick rundown?
capital one is matching miles up to 100k for signing up for the venture card. it also has a 10k bonus of it's own. so, since I have over 100k united miles I should get 110k venture miles. they aren't actually miles you spend but are credits for travel purchases made on the card. 110k is worth $1,100. so, essentialy, they just hand you $1,100 if you have 100k miles in any one account. You can purchase the travel however you want and just mark it on the card as a travel cost and it gets reimbursed to you. flyertalk seems to think the billion miles will go fast. also, you can really see the old hamster in the wheel turning on those mileage run people turning this into millions of miles. It's great for me because I'm always using up hotel miles and always have a ton of airline miles. can fly somewhere on miles and then spend $1,100 on rental car/hotel. mrs. dave always wants to stay at boutique type places (I know
) and now I can humor her.
