Marriott SPG deal got final approval. Closing on the 23rd. Will be awhile before anyone knows anything about the program mergers but at least the Chinese road block is down.

All earned the hard way for the most part. Glad I don't have to travel that much anymore. Pretty sweet to have the lifetime gold status and access to the lounges forever though.

if you want a SW companion pass for two years there are really good marriott night/flight packages that you can get a week of hotel stays plus enough SW miles for a companion pass (plus the actual SW miles). if you've got a good amount of SPG points that would be an opportunity if you've got like 11 kids and are going to fly SW a ton in the next two years with them like I am.
