United first class report:

I was on separate reservations from my kids, but got upgraded automatically and they gave my seats on two flights to someone else. Took some negotiation with the gate agent, but was able to get them to the first row of economy plus.

Was there an open seat in my kids' row on one of the flights? Yes.

Did I stay in first? Yes.

Did I get judgy vibes from the flight attendants? Yes.

Did it stop me from slamming bourbon on the rocks? No.

Did one guy sitting next to me snort snot loudly, a lot? Yes.

Did a lady in first try to put her laptop bag behind her seat in my kids' space instead of in the infinite space in the seat ahead of her? Yes.

Did a guy across the aisle from me take off not just guys shoes, but his socks, and put his bare feet all over the bulkhead? Yes.

Did this, combined with sufficient bourbon, send me back to that open seat next to my kids for the last half of the flight? Yes.

So I want to get 50k points by opening a Chase Southwest Business Premier Card. I already have the Premier Personal card (and I previously received 50k points buy opening that card - probably about 1-2 years ago).

So I've got two possible businesses.
1. eBay seller. I do sell stuff from time to time on eBay.
2. Childcare provider. I hire a nanny to care for my kids and I pay her legally. As such, I'm an employer according to the government and I have my own EIN (which I think is just my SSN).

I went the eBay seller route and submitted an application, just using my SSN for the EIN. I've now got a message telling me a decision is pending and I should call Chase. Before I call, advice?

Never mind. I just called, and they approved me with a credit line of $35,000.

They just hand this crap out like candy. Too bad I couldn't also sign up for the personal premier card and get 100k points. I'd be on my way to a companion pass. As it is, $99 is an awesome price for 50k points.

I'm experiencing my first huge difference in airline miles vs. credit card reward points since listening to the SD teachings. 3x more Thank You Reward points for a business class open jaw to united kingdom versus what it will cost me in AA points. Lesson learned.
