I've stayed like 30 nights at the Swan hotel at disneyworld on points over the last couple years. It's a good value when you factor in 5th night free and junk.

spg has stupidly low redemption rates. I had a dream (like I actually did) that after the merger the Marriott points were 1:1 and I was like the king of free hotels

I'm looking at an overnight AA flight from Seattle to Miami.  It'd leave here at 11:15 pm my time and get there at 7:52 their time, so about 5.5 hours.  Coach is 20K.  First class is 45K.  I want to be able to sleep through it comfortably and not have some weird moment where I wake up and am crammed in with a bunch of zombies, but not sure if it's worth 25K for the potentially better sleeping situation when I won't even be getting free booze.  Maybe get the 20K seat and then could I pay the $60 for an exit row seat?

Same flight can be had through UR for $186.10 or 14,888 points coach.  The 1st class $/point price was more than thru AA.

I'd look at the seat map. There's a good chance that you can get a whole row to yourself on that flight in coach.

not credit card related but i had the whole row on my flight out to oak 2 weeks ago. 6/7 stars, would recommend

Good point.  Their website's jacked up now but when I could see the map it looked relatively full for that ridiculous of a flight more than 2 months away.  I'll try again tomorrow but will probably just get an exit seat now as a safeguard for if there isn't a whole empty row that I'd be able to lay out in.

yeah, those redeyes can go either way. They can be super convenient in terms of saving you a day of work (and be cheap), or they can just be dead.

can you upgrade to the exit row if you purchase with ur points?  to me that sounds like your best redemption, if they let you do that.  but everyone values their comfort differently.

I'll try that tomorrow.  Never got any travel through UR so I have no idea if it's similar to the shopping portal where they just bounce you over to the regular merchant site or if I'd have way less control over what I'm getting.  If it's the latter, I'd probably just use my AA card and get everything through AA and better boarding, baggage, etc.

spend the points and fly up front. points are cheap and a less awful night of sleep is important. plus AA devaluation coming soon.

OK, what airline can I fly on to Italy and use points and not still have to pay an outrageous amount of actual money in stupid fees?
