How Many Credit Cards Do You Have?

sddad is like 6'4". he has never flown first class. he hasn't even considered it before despite flying a reasonable amount (for a cow farmer). I used my AA miles to book my parents on a trip to SF/Napa in first class and also helped them book their hotels with their own points I talked them into collecting. it felt so good guys.

It's, like, those 75k are worth WAY more than $450 and throw in Admirals club access which is great and worth a lot if you travel a lot and it all makes sense. The $7,500 spend in 3 months is high but doable. I just have a hard time pulling the trigger on stuff with that much up front cost even though my brain says to quit being a dumbass and do it.

yeah that's a big nut in the days of scarce MS opportunities.  A year ago I'd have been all over it.

the question isn't whether the miles and benefits are worth the fee.  it's whether the miles and benefits are worth so much more than what other miles and benefits you could get with the same spend and time investment without paying the fee.

i don't think it makes any sense at all to pay the fee (i guess maybe if aa are like the only miles you could ever possibly use).

getting the british airways card might be kind of fun for you. you get 50k british airways miles and you can use them to fly on american airlines out of mhk airport to either chicago or dallas for 9000 miles roundtrip. so you and the mrs could just randomly fly to chicago some weekend for free and you'd still have 32000 left.

I'm not good at knowing what cards are good for people just starting to have credit. RDs BA card seems like a logical choice, or the AA plat card, or obv the CSP but I don't know if you can get it with no credit history.

The shitty card you sign up for on campus to get a free t-shirt or something (do they still do that?) will be the one you never use as an adult but hang onto so you have a decade(s)-old card on your roster increasing your average card-holding length.

I would say the AA one is a better deal if used right but if you got the premier as well as prestige that is a good usage as well. Both fine.
