If a person were wanting to fly from Kansas City to Melbourne,  Austrailia, and they wanted to fly business class, what would be the best option be? Citi AA cards every 2 years?

upper class australia flights are like the hardest flights to book on awards supposedly. but, yeah, probably a ton of AA miles and then try to book a qantas award 330 days out. or get over a billion avios.

I was hoping that wasn't the only option.   That flight is awful,  and may be tolerable in first.   Once again,  thanks for the leg work, even though I assume you have all these links memorized.

you could also fly virgin australia on delta miles but I don't know a quick way to get a ton of them. maybe a delta card and a couple different amex MR cards? I dunno.

United has a ton of availability from MCI to MEL at random checks. Plus a dreamliner from LAX to MEL.

The miles can be used on Air New Zealand and Singapore, as well (at least they should). All three will get you there. So I think I'd go with United and Chase Sapphires before the AA every two years.

Are you near an airport where you are going to get global entry?

no, no plans to travel in the next 2 months which is when my annual fee is due, so just going to do precheck.   I can do that here on Friday.

well I mean AA has no business availability at all through March 2016 but knock yourself out w/ your 4 year AA churn.

I can't speak to availability, but biz class on British Airways is only 100k each way.   That's not crazy.

Best bet might be to see what a revenue ticket would be, get the BA Visa (and the 10% off BA tickets) then upgrade to biz with Avios.

I was directing my comment more to flyertalk bully steve dave than you. (And a Qantas flight from DFW on an A380 wouldn't suck)

could you get 350k United/UR points faster than 125k AA points? Plus the Qantas trick doesn't seem too reliable.

Tell your friend to suck it up and fly coach and go off a single ink bonus and change.

SD, I want to go to Minneapolis in October. Tell me the best way to get to MSP.

I have 40k+ AA miles right now, will have another 50k next statement when I finish with my Citi AA.

I'm going to cancel my CSP right now. I have had that for close to two years.

Flying out of MHK would probably be most convenient, but I don't know if it's the best use of those miles.

don't know how flexible your days are but there's some saver availability out of MHK now. I'd price them and make sure you can't buy cheap tickets before you book though. It'll be 25k miles round trip.
