have roughly 100k southwest points and 100k Marriott points, where's a good place to take a trip with mrs meow and 3 year old meow this summer? @stevedave?
100k swa miles is a lot and will get you a lot of places. 100k Marriott points is not a lot. the higher end Marriott hotels are like 40-50k a night. so basically the best use of Marriott points is their vacation packages where you turn in like 250-300k Marriott points and they give you 7 certificates toward a stay at a certain category hotel + a bunch of airline miles for whatever airline you want to fly. it's a great use of points because you get the 7 free nights and then they're essentially transferring like 80k airline miles at a 1:1 ratio as well. but you don't have that many points. 100k points will basically get you a couple nights at a ritz, jw marriott, etc., maybe 3 nights at a nice autograph hotel or a courtyard in a really good location.
honestly as a Marriott plat their rewards system kind of sucks, the good thing is they're huge and they're everywhere and have a wide range of brands. the best way to do their points is to stockpile them and do the vacation packages though.
are they actually taking new apps for the card anymore? they are merging the points in like less than a week.
glad I randomly decided to do it last week. I wonder if our bonuses will just show up as AA miles now, or if we'll just somehow get mumped.
