sometimes I feel bad about telling people how much they mumped up but it's best that they know. like, they may as well hear it from their bud steve dave so they don't continue being complete dumbasses over and over.

Yeah, I was hoping that it wouldn't hurt the relationship, but mostly he just felt like an idiot. I told them that he needn't feel like that as long as he didn't make the same mistake again.

what free/almost free travel do you dudes have booked? I've got:

-vegas bach party in July on SW points / Aria on discounted Hyatt rate
-MCI-BER, CDG-MCI on Delta miles, 3 nights at Hotel du Louvre on Hyatt points (the rest of the nights are staying with fam/friends)
-austin in august on SW points
-cincinnati in october, staying at Hyatt Regency on points (8k/night lol). haven't figured out how i'm getting there yet. i may drive

Will probably have quite a few points left over this year, may think about planning another trip.

A good friend of mine got a CSP with his wife, and she uses it for her photog business. He told me proudly today that they cashed out their UR points to buy themselves iPhone 6 + devices. I almost cried. Then I delicately told him that what he just did was incredibly stupid.

Also a KState grad squawk fan, I assume, so what did you expect?

I don't know, I just assume when someone gets such a nice credit card that they have at least a cursory understanding of its benefits. Apparently that is a dumb assumption.

United is more lenient than most carriers, allowing a stopover and two open jaws on award tickets.

so remember those checks we got from amex for some SPG bonus we supposedly didn't receive? just got $160 check from chase for some award bonus they failed to give me at some point. no idea what for. I'm beating the crap out of them for 300k UR points a year and they send me $160. ok.

also just found out that citi now made their personal cards an bad person to churn (can't churn from 18 months of previous account closing).   



so, anyways, all my haranguing about just churning chase and citi and staying the eff away from barclays was prolly wrong/obsolete.  i may even have to open another goddamn barclays' account myself.

I will have over 600k of the combined points (plus ~100k avios) once they merge and have been using the crap out of them. just got another citi AA and another (last?) barclay US. I've gotten about 5 barclay US cards in the last two years. mrs. dave has as well. the US card seems like the last of the really great churns out there. you can still churn the crap out of Alaska I guess.

Need reminders re: SPG AMEX.

Got it August-ish when there was (I think) a slightly higher bonus.  Have only used it once - for a Westin free stay valet parking charge - since doing the minimum spend.

Ideal time to cancel and avoid annual charge and be able to do another max signup bonus? 

I already have the HH Surpass AMEX for AMEX benefits like free ShopRunner.
