So lets talk companion pass.  I've got 50k SW miles.  How do I get the other 50k aside from just spend?

Are IHG points good? Is 80k points for a $1000 spend a good deal?

I see what you're saying now.  I mean be able to spend more time at the destination and less time traveling within the 4 days you have.

yeah I think Cabo is probably best for that.

Tokyo also would be a bad option. It's an 11 hour direct to SFO, which isn't THAT much longer than a flight with connections to NYC.

I know which one Nick Russell would be more comfortable with.

Assuming all were earned this year?  Get another version of the card(business or the other personal) and boom 106k pts.

IHG points are kinda the Southwest points of hotels.  You can use them anywhere and they are convenient, but you probably aren't going to do a baller trip with them.  I use IHG for stays at airport hotels or MHK or something.

Doesn't look like there are any available right now. Probably will come back in a couple months. Until then flights and spend

alaska air should have directs to seattle from kc and to anywhere else in alaska from there. you can use Delta, AA and Avios miles to fly them.

yep, but if you are gathering AA miles I'd use them to get AA instead. or Avios. I'd say Delta are the third most valuable. but, if you are a delta guy then obviously get delta.

There's usually an Alaskan Airlines card offer, too.  Anchorage is final destination?

still awaiting specific details, just know it's in alaska. i'm open to starting on any airline, so if AA is the best i am open to pursuing that. do US Airways flights count toward AA?

also not sure how often i'll be traveling there yet, it's not a typical client obviously so it could be anywhere from 2-3 times in the next year or 10-15, we'll see.

with that said, my current card situation: Chase Sapphire Preferred and i use that for pretty much everything. should i apply for another one to use for AA flights? if so, which?

alaska.  :sdeek:

i need pro tips for traveling to alaska.

Frontier hasn't gotten much love or attention in this thread, but 40,000 bonus miles (two roundtrip award tickets anywhere domestic [including AK]) after spending $500 in the first 90 days.

They fly to Anchorage and Fairbanks. I think it trumps Alaska Air's offers last I checked.

I like Frontier fine but I wouldn't start collecting frontier miles unless you live in Denver. And then I'd prolly focus on United. The "two roundtrip" thing is pretty deceiving as well.

Yeah, USA and AA are going to be one and the same and their points can already be used on each other and earned on each other. I'd prolly focus on getting either United or AA miles if you are going to be flying a lot and are based out of KC.
