As of a month ago, we were. There's a few KC area posters that seem to have some knowledge about Custer that bop through here sometimes, they're welcome to join in if they have anything new. As far I know though(which admittedly isn't much), KSU still has the offer extended to him.

Custer update from Iowa St. site. He visited Ames this past weekend, that's the 3rd time he's been up there in the past several months and says he plans to get back up there again to watch an ISU bball game this upcoming season:

"Oklahoma State is pretty involved and then we've got Kansas State and Oklahoma," he said. "Mizzou just started recruiting me. Butler has been in to see me. I'm getting interest from a lot of schools, but Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Kansas State are the ones showing the most interest."

From MN's link about McClain, Weber was in Champaign last weekend to check in with 6'9" PF Michael Finke. Finke has offers from Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. His Dad played Fball and Bball at Illinois, is also coach of younger Finke's AAU team, the Peoria Irish.

Kline reports from the NY vs Philly all star game this past weekend:

"In a competitive sophomore game stacked with talented guards, the likes of Khadeen Carrington, Shavar Newkirk and Ja'Quan Newton stood out. All members of the Rivals150 for the class of 2014, each stood out on the court as they dictated the scoring pace and trend in the offense.

Carrington, a combo guard out of Bishop Loughlin (NY), holds offers from Iowa State, Iowa, UConn, Kansas State, Villanova, Cincinnati, Rutgers, West Virginia, St. John's and more. At the moment, he says Cincinnati, West Virginia and Iowa State are recruiting him the hardest. An upcoming trip to Cincinnati is scheduled in two weeks. Both the No. 97 player in the Rivals150 and his mother have tangled with the idea of committing this spring, but that is a distance away."

Finke sounds pretty solid, would probably take some real shenanigans to swipe him away from Illinois though.

Cal loves offering on visits and if that happens I can see Lyle committing on the spot.  :flush:

I have a feeling that Lowery really wants to have a chance on Jaquan though and put it some time.

Keita Bates-Diop was recently offered by Indiana, joining the likes of Purdue, Illinois, Michigan, KSU, DePaul, and Northwestern. KBD also took an unofficial visit to Ohio St. earlier this fall but it sounds like his 3 solid leaders remain the same - Illinois, Michigan, and Purdue.

Yeah, I believe Lyle was the very 1st prospect this staff offered way back in April. With Lowery being an Evansville native, I'm sure he wants to stake a claim there, but it's going to be tough to fight off all those big-time programs in the Upper Midwest and Ohio Valley region that are also recruiting Lyle.

From Scout's Josh Gershon, sounds like we're making a hard run at Dominique Collier:

Quote
"The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Denver East 2014 point guard says that Kansas State, Gonzaga, Stanford, Colorado and Iowa are amongst the schools that have been by to see him, although it appears he remains wide open in his recruitment.

"I'm still open and going through the process right now," Collier said.

The four-star point guard identified Colorado, Kansas State and Stanford as the schools recruiting him the hardest."

Based on everything I know about Collier(which probably isn't much in the grand scheme of things), he's going to be tough to pry away from Colorado. Alterior motive here might be to try to establish a good relationship with Collier's AAU club, KC Run GMC, formerly KC Pump N Run.

KBD took an unofficial visit to Michigan St. this past weekend and they offered him on the visit. Could certainly alter the tenor of his recruitment and who's leading for him.

Profile on Cimimo's prep school team, Worcester Academy:

"The Hilltoppers Frontline will be orchestrated by returning 6’10 Center Matt Cimino and 6’8 bruiser, Darryl Reynolds. Cimino is coming off a great run on the AAU circuit with Mass Rivals earning high major interest including offers from Virginia, BC and Kansas State. Cimino is versatile, face up post player that can step out and knock down the long range jump shot. Reynolds comes to Worcester, Ma by the way of Philadelphia, Pa and made a name for himself in New England weeks prior to the start of school at the Tufts Prep Shootout. Reynolds physical presence alone is an intimidation factor for those who think about trying to get in his way. Standing at 6’8 with a massive cut frame, Reynolds is a skilled, big man with range on his shot that extends to the 3 point line. Reynolds likes to bang down low, put the ball on the floor to create space, in order to knock down the baseline pull up or jump shot from the elbow. Reynolds and Cimino on the floor together will create matchup problems for opposing big men."

http://hoopdreamsmag.com/?p=4817

Cimino, 1 of 1st bigs KSU offered in this class, visited Rhode Island for their Midnight Madness. He has offers Boston College, KSU, Virginia, and UMass.

2014 St. Frances Academy (Md.) small forward Dwayne Morgan -- a four-star prospect -- will make his college decision from among UNLV, Missouri, Seton Hall, South Florida, Maryland and Indiana, according to his AAU coach Dwayne Wise of UA BMore's Finest.

Morgan passed up on looks from Florida, Georgetown, Kansas State, LSU, Miami, San Diego State and others.

Sounds like our staff is going strong after Kaleb Joseph. I'm really high on the kid, other than Jaquan Lyle, he'd be my top choice from all PG prospects KSU has offered in this class. Right now, he has high major offers from KSU, Providence, Seton Hall, Maryland, Tennessee, Boston College, and West Virginia. From a recent update on the Maryland Scout site:

Quote
Fortunately for Maryland, Joseph said distance won't be a factor in his college decision.

“A big thing is the relationship with the coaches, where I feel the coach has the most trust in me and I have the most trust in him,” Joseph said. “Style of play is going to be important too.”

The recruiting heat will only pick up for Joseph as his high school career progresses and he plans on taking some visits over his Thanksgiving and winter breaks. Joseph said he doesn't have a top five yet, but the competition for Maryland will be fierce as Joseph acknowledged Kansas State and West Virginia are recruiting him the hardest right now.

Joseph highlights from this past summer linked below.

Nairn update, Telep talked to Sunrise coach. Sounds like KSU staff is really putting in the effort and is in good shape with Nairn at this time.

Quote
PG Nairn has unique name, big game
By Dave Telep

He was named after his father, who was originally named after legendary entertainer Lou Rawls. But Lourawls Nairn Jr. (Wichita, Kan./Sunrise Christian) won’t need to sing or act to win over college coaches. He’s blazing quick from baseline-to-baseline and extremely difficult to guard. The 2014 point guard with the most unique of names doesn’t need a nickname, but he’s got one.

Friends and recruiters alike call him “Tum Tum.” Apparently, the popular “Three Ninjas” series featured a kid by that name who could pack away food with little effort.

“I don’t know if I remember watching it, but there was a Three Ninjas movie a few years ago,” Sunrise coach Kyle Linsted said. “There was a kid on there who ate everything in sight, that’s what they called him, ‘Tum Tum.’”

Well this “Tum Tum” is on the rise. He’s going to be a high-major point guard. Most figured that out following his exploits with Spiece Mo-Kan last summer. When you have the elusive speed and quickness Nairn owns, you’re marketable.

Count oscar Weber among those in the know as the Kansas State head coach is a frequent visitor to Sunrise Christian. “He’s Kansas State’s No. 1 guy,” Linsted said. “oscar is here all the time for him.” Weber’s starting to notice he’s got company, too. Iowa, Wake Forest, Miami and Indiana have seen him. North Carolina called, so did Kentucky. And Texas A&M and Kansas have also been in.

“I think Kansas State has recruited him (harder) over everybody,” Linsted said.

Nairn, according to Linsted, has made strides since July. “Since the summer, you would not believe the difference in his shot. He’s starting to really shoot it now. He’s always had the speed, athleticism and toughness and now he’s shooting it.”

Nairn is not the only prospect at Sunrise Christian. Here’s a glance at why college coaches have made it a point to visit Wichita this fall.

J.C. Washington (Houston/Yates)
2014, PF, 6-6, 190
Offers: Lamar
Strong Interest: LSU, Kansas, Wichita State, Texas A&M and Kansas State

Washington is a good glue guy -- make that a super glue guy. He has a great motor and competes with toughness on both ends of the floor. Washington scores by sprinting the floor on the break, on the receiving end of drop-off passes and short shots in and around the lane. He turns broken plays and loose balls into baskets with his hustle and nose for the basket. Washington rebounds in a crowd, in and out of his area and is a threat to ignite the break with a bust-out dribble. He is a stellar defender both as a communicator and a shot blocker. Washington was a treat to watch compete in route to his 28 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks and 2 assist.
