Is it considered illegal benefits to buy high school kids chicken nuggets after AAU practice? If not, I always loved me some DQ (all we had) after practice in HS. Could this be a unforeseen benefit of the Weber hire :dunno:

From Minny, Weber had offered this kid when Weber was still at Illinois:

Johnnie Vasser listed an offer from DePaul, while Kansas State, Illinois, Syracuse, Marquette, California, UNLV, Oregon, Oregon State, Iowa, and Boston College have shown interest.

"Johnnie Vasser, PG, SYF Players - A talented and explosive lead guard, Vasser has always been able to get to the rim, but is now showing natural maturation in running a team. He's still wild and turnover prone at times, but Vasser found teammates and still got offense for himself at the rim. The jumper is also still a lingering question mark at this point in his game, but making baskets easier for other guys is a big step in his development."

"Jaquan Lyle, PG/SF, Spiece Indy Heat – The first thing you notice about Lyle’s game is his feel. His court vision is impressive, his passes are pinpoint and he makes good basketball plays. Lyle has terrific ball skills and will likely play on the ball in college. With his size (6-foot-5), he’s capable of bullying defenders and he knows how to position his body and use his frame when trying to get to the rim. On top of all that, his strength allows him to finish, plus he can mix in spot-up jump shots as well."

"JaQuan Lyle listed Ilinois, Indiana, Xavier, Butler, Kansas State, Ohio State, Michigan State and Louisville. He claims scholarship offers from all of them."

So if you team this kid up with a 5* post player(Vonleh), he can really be tough to handle.

"SURPRISE PERFORMANCES

Matt Cimino (Falmouth, Maine/Worcester Academy)
2014, PF, 6-9, 200 pounds
Cimino put on a show in the second half of the U-17 championship game in Providence, knocking down five second-half 3s by working the inside-out, two-man game with Vonleh. He’s a good post feeder from the perimeter, with agility and touch to throw soft bounce passes and the size to throw over top of pressure as well. His combination of size and skill also forced the opposition into defensive mismatches, as the Westchester Hawks had to use their longest defender to contest Cimino’s 3-point shot, leaving Vonleh free to operate against a smaller defender on the block. Noah Vonleh becomes first to receive UNC scholarship in 2014 class.

I'm not sure we're going to have a 5-star post man to pair him up with.

Just hoping we don't fall into the "fit" trap, latest evidence is we're heading down that path.

Think players, not plays.

For the sake of equal reporting, Bossi on Cimino

Quote
Potential four-star guy right here. Moves very well, big time range and shooting ability for a kid his size.

My main complaint is that I am very, very leery of a roster full of complementary players. Don't get me wrong every team needs these types of players to succeed, it's just that in order to be really tough to beat, you need at least a couple players who are athletic and/or skilled enough or some combo of the 2 to create scoring opportunities either offensively or defensively on their own when all hell breaks loose.

Well, that's my crap theory at least.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Trevon-Bluiett-116207

Good find bp, Bluiett plays on the same AAU team, Spiece Indy Heat, as Jaquan Lyle, a 5* prospect KSU has offered for the class of '14. Reynardo Bluiett, Trevon's dad, is SIH's coach.
Bossi on Bluiett:

"...keep an eye on another 2014 prospect in Trevon Bluiett. The 6-foot-5 sophomore isn't the most athletic guy, he doesn't strike you as the best ball-handler or the most dangerous shooter. But, the guy has a commanding feel for the game and is a throwback player with a skill and craft-based game like Mark Aguirre and Adrian Dantley had back in their day. The guy produces at a high level and gets the job done."
