I'm not going to get my hopes up yet. I just can't picture oscar landing a top 100 guy.
He's done it many times before and he'll do it again. He got claimed as a "bad recruiter" at Illinois cause he wasn't landing McDonalds All Ammericans out of Chicago, but he was still landing top 100 guys.

It's a lot easier to get top 100 guys to Illinois than it is to K-State.
Thats bullshit, Illinois recruitment is handicapped because of the emphasis the administration puts on Chicago. It easier to lands kids when you can recruit the entire country vs one crooked city.

I am no expert, but I'm calling bullshit on the idea that the Illinois administration ever dictated to oscar (or any other coach) where they had to get their players.

Meh, Malek Harris looks about like all the recruits we're normally after. And his offers are in the range of an unranked 3* as well. I'm not completely unexcited, but just about as excited as I am when we land one of our normal recruits.

We backed off Larry Austin early in the process, Phil Cofer is a guy we would be more likely to go after again.

Chester was going after him pretty hard, but his Dad played at Tennessee.

He did not have an Illinois offer, noninsider60.  He is a very good athlete, but he can't shoot and isn't a distributor.  He didn't even have Illinois interest after Groce took over.  oscar kept an eye on him as a youngster way back when.  He didn't turn out to be the star many thought he was going to be.

His offers aren't very good because he committed early and then he was suspended his entire senior season.  WTF is doesntknowhoops60's deal?  Everybody already knows this stuff.  If anything everybody should be going way overboard about him being far more talented than his offers would suggest.  Holy crap everybody get rough ridin' excited! :excited:

Agree, was great high school freshmen who didn't develop into his perceived potential, got lost in the shuffle and ended up staying ranked.

Nobody who is worth a crap says he is a 4*.  He is a great athlete, defender and excels at getting to the rim.  Shitty shooter and facilitator.  A stud PG from IL doesn't go to Tennessee if he's actually a stud.  He goes blue blood or if a notch below he goes big 10.

Wait are you guys saying it was well known that oscar was or was not told where to recruit by  Illinois administration?  Because I cannot imagine a self respecting D1 coach going along with be told where to recruit by administration.

Influenced/suggested by boosters? Sure, I'll buy that.  TOLD where to recruit by admin, and actually going along with it...I mean that would be a ridiculously pussy thing to do.

Yep, Weber is a pussy and the focus on Chicago is driven by boosters. The one AAU program Weber has land players out of Chicago is Illinois Wolves same program that Malek Harris is from. The Wolves are the blue collar AAU program for Chicago. A lot of Illinois fans/booster were upset with the lack of success oscar had with Mac Irvin Fire AAU Program, THE BLUE CHIP AAU PROGRAM.

I was saying that I was going to jump M-N's crap for believing oscar's "it wasn't me I swear" no dick excuse for failing at Illinois.  I mean it's basically the dumbest thing ever.  Illinois administrators and boosters want to rough ridin' win same as everybody else.  They don't give a crap where the winners grew up.  Most of them actually hate Chicago.  That pro-Chicago bull crap comes exclusively from Chicago middlemen fuckfaces who want to be big shots and are in reality a bunch of nobody AAU dick holders.

Boosters were pissed because of the shitty basketball and the rough ridin' losing.  Of course they wanted better players.  Weber's recruiting in the beginning was bad.  He was getting his dick kicked off left and right irrespective of Chicago.  He had immense pressure to do better in recruiting period.  Chicago is just an easy reference point.  They did not care if oscar got Chicago players if he had been winning with downstate or out of state guys.  It's just another easy criticism.  It wasn't real though.

Self and Kruger weren't locking down Chicago and everyone loved the crap out of them.  People love winners and oscar wasn't one.  It's just something stupid he tried to blame his failure on.  He just wasn't good enough.

You wouldn't think it was fun if the cats lost and you'd act like a rough ridin' moron about oscar if they won.  There are more people I like here than I don't (at least that I pay attention to).  I don't think I'd enjoy it.

Still maybe they'll meet in the tournament.  The committee matched oscar up with Kruger and Self his last trip at Illinois.

Mystery transfer/recruit rumors   :runaway:

Apparently, this was Malek Harris and he was higher up on the board then Marvin Clark.   :Wha:

I thought it was someone else  : face palm :

I can understand that take. It would be a similar feel to playing South Carolina. However, I don't think I like anyone from there.

There's not much film on him at all. I'll just assume that most of the ranking services have seen him play and aren't completely off base. I think everybody of note has him as a 4* stud.
