I hope they lose them all.  I mean 100 lose teams haven't opened anyones eyes yet.  Maybe 160 loses will.

They can only lose 159. They've already won 3.

This is really going to eff me over this summer. Not that the Royals ever were anything worth watching in the summer, but man, really thought they were at least going to be competitive. Drank the kool aid and thought 80 wins was realistic this year.

Well, let's just hope that is enough.

I think they will pick up 2 wins in Minnesota. They probably won't get any in Cleveland.

Hey mocat. Enjoyed getting pak'd on saturday.

Rany Jazayerli tweeted the stats last week. It is something like this:

In 6 of the last 9 seasons, the royals have had a six game losing streak before the end of April.
In 3 of the last 9 seasons, the royals have had a six game win streak at any point in the season.
In each of the last nine seasons, the royals have had a six game losing streak before the end of May.
The royals have had 12 eight game losing streaks in the last nine seasons if you count the 19 game losing streak twice.

To summarize, this year's collapse is business as usual.

So are we just overvaluing certain players on this team, like Butler and Hosmer? A lot of people still value Gordon, but I'm pretty sure he's shitty. Is this just a case of dead weight (glaring at center field) dragging the team down, or does everyone on the team just suck? Is it time for the Royals to blow it up and start over?

Gordon 2011:
.302 BA, 23 HR, .878 OPS, gold glove left field.

I mean, he isn't a 40 homer guy, and he struck out too much, but that is a pretty rough ridin' good year.

When I was in high school, the Colorado Rockies began their franchise. It was close enough and a new team, so I thought I'd start becoming a fan. Though I'd never been a huge Royals fan, I had followed them as a kid and remember the World Series in 1985 well, but by the early 90s they had already begun falling apart as a franchise. I followed the Rockies closely (and more closely than the Royals) their first few years in the Dante Bachette/Andres Galaraga era, but slowly gave up interest and gravitated back to the Royals.

Since then the Rockies have been far from great, but still finished above .500 7 times, made 3 playoff appearances, and even made an appearance in the World Series a few years ago.

The Royals have finished above .500 once and now in the most hopeful Royals season since the early 90s they are already 10 games under .500.

:sigh:

I should've stuck with the Rockies.

Looking at his career stats, I see a solid role player for any team in his best year, and a bad player who wouldn't be able to find a spot on a playoff team in any other season.

Gordon has been absolutely terrible this year(along with most our team). He had 2 big K's last night both with RISP.

Also WTF are we doing bunting with a runner on second and no outs? I get that its Getz and thats pretty much his role but WTF? Runner gets to third, 1 out now. Gordon comes up, needs to hit a deep fly to get the run in but strikes out. Next batter grounds out to short....You cant give away outs like that.

The only plus from last night? HOSMER   . Solo HR then later in the game he lays down a bunt no one is expecting, beats the throw to first with a slide and then takes second on the overthrow.

Positives: Escobar has played well. Moose has played well. Butler has played decent. Hosmer has played better than his stats indicate, imo.

Frenchy is back to his normal line. Gordon has been horrible. Situational hitting has been horrible. Yost's strategy has been horrible. Bullpen has been horrible when we had leads. Just a combination of things.
