Either it's bad info on the meniscus tear or bad info on the armchair surgeons on this BBS.  :dunno:

Meniscus tears are probably the most bi-polar injury possible. Some people don't need surgery and just play through the pain, some no surgery and and a long recovery (6ish weeks is about right), some need a minor surgery that only takes a couple weeks to come back from, some need a major surgery that could keep him out the whole year. It all depends on what part of the meniscus and how big the tear is.

So... Dr. Joda's prognosis runs the gamut from Perez missing almost no time to him losing the entire season.

Basically, read he does need surgery so at least several weeks then but without knowing anything else about it I couldn't even make a guess.

Edit: should probably add that I doubt they allow him to do much catching for quite some time so he may just be shut down most of the year since the Royals don't really have a place for him if he's not catching.

Actually my doc told me to expect that timeline even before surgery.  Said it was common.  Said that many even beat my recovery timeline and play 1wk later.  This catcher d00d must have a much worse tear sitch.

I think recovery for a catcher would be more serious, just given how much abuse their knees take anyways.

What a shitty spring training. Good thing we actually have depth in the pen.

So you can keep track of how many times Pujols goes yard on Nolan Ryan's boys??

I'd probably do a league.  No idea how they work but I'm sure I could figure it out.

Should have traded soria

Like 3 years ago. I didn't want them to though, I'm a fan with my heart and not my head.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I did. A closer is important to a good team, but they are pretty worthless to a bad team. You can't get saves if you can't get save opportunities.

Needing to plug a big hole behind the plate, the Kansas City Royals acquired catcher Humberto Quintero and outfielder Jason Bourgeois from the Houston Astros on Tuesday for minor league reliever Kevin Chapman and a player to be named.

Quintero is another defensive-minded catcher. Trying to fill the hole left by the injury to Sal. Bourgeois is really fast and basically just gives us some more nice outfield depth.
I've never heard of Kevin Chapman and he probably sucks so depending on the "Player to be named..." will take this trade

Yeah, pretty decent additions for what appears to be fairly small subtractions.

Soria getting Tommy John and the Starting pitching has me believing we're in for a very disappointing season.

Yes, the good thing about the Royals is they usually start out pretty decent, so I really won't get my hopes up until like June if they are still doing well.

addition by subtraction. soria was a weak link last year. holland was much better. broxton might be good again. either way holland is probably our best option.

would rather have traded him a couple years back but oh well.

Not addition by subtraction.  You can't have too many solid bullpen guys and after June of last year he was a good reliever, not the Soria we once knew, but pretty solid.  But yeah, Holland is better.
