How close does the street car get to this new stade?

Assuming the boundaries are between Grand and Oak and 17th to Truman, two blocks.

I also assuming it'll be incorporated into the park that is to go over 670, and tie it into the artist formerly known as sprint center

Guess we will see in the deets. I want it downtown and the star building doesn't seem like a bad spot, but I also don't want any of the current places to get screwed. That area is pretty awesome now and I'm hopeful it will stay the same, but I also know that landlords are already rewriting their leases and renewals ready to jack up rent because the stadium will be there. How many places will (A) be able to afford to stay, and or (B) not take the big check that TGI Fridays is going to be waving at them?

Yes, worried about the tap rooms down there and landlords jacking the rent up.

I bet a lot of the cool locally owned places relocate and chains go in.

the crossroads is what it is now is because there was a dense supply of 100 year old buildings (that amazingly weren't torn down at any point since the 1950s) waiting to be utilized by local businesses. now that they are full of small businesses in a dense walkable area, the crossroads is a desirable location. it is physically impossible for a baseball stadium to be built in this neighborhood without destroying the very thing that makes it desirable.

i don't think getting a baseball stadium downtown is worth destroying the neighborhood to do so. and i certainly don't think public funds should be used to do so.

I inherently understand that argument but for where this physically sits it's also tearing down practically the least amount of that anywhere downtown not named the east village. Integrating it with the park over 670 and connecting it sprint center is probably for the better.  Just looking at it there is so much parking space with the kc star, and some definite unfortunate businesses, but not a wholesale destruction of it. The core of down on SW BLVD and whatnot is away from that

What will suck will be the ones nearby that will very much have to deal with increased rents. We'll see how that changes that area.

However, if anything has taught me about KC, everyone is highly resistive to *pick a thing* KC tries to do and then eventually after it's all said and done everyone either is ok with it or loves it.

Renderings actually look pretty good. Lack of crown is disappointing. Hopefully they implement that. Will be totally bummed if places like Casual Animal, Brick, etc get priced out. I can def see a scenario where they get priced out initially and then rents come back down a bit years later, but the damage will be done most likely.

Also, if it does mean also covering up more of 670 for park and event space, awesome.

Yep, its just really odd to me that none of the renderings we've seen have incorporated the crown. Every comment on twitter and pretty much everywhere says the same thing with they post them. where the eff is the crown? It seems odd that they apparently don't plan to include it.

Maybe Frank White was blocking this deal because he knew they were disrespecting the crown.

The K is a product of a bygone era.  Of the modern stadiums the doughnut multi-use stadium was the first to go.   The next to go are the ballparks built on cheap land at the urban fringe.  The K is in that category.

The only stadiums that were built on the urban fringe in the past 20 year are Truist Park, and the Braves built a mini city all around it, and Globe Life Field.  The White Sox are looking to move 2 to 3 miles North, the Brewers will either get a new ball park or move to points beyond after 2030.  The Angels want a new park. Leaving only Dodgers stadium adrift in a sea of asphalt parking.

I'm cool with them moving down to the crossroads but they need to make an exact replica of the K down there (or at least as close as possible). I want a huge crown in center field and fountains for drunk Iowa'ns to jump into).

Also where am I gonna park? Like I get that there is tons of parking within a 10 minute walk around the stadium but I honestly just hate dealing with it. I go down to the crossroads about once a month and almost always take an uber because I just hate figuring out what is private parking where i'm going to get towed and what is pay parking and what the hell I'm just supposed to put $5 in an envelope in a slot?

I'm assuming they will have designated lots for parking on royals game days it will go smooth but maybe some details on that so we don't have 10k jocoians circling the crossroads trying to find a parking spot on opening day.

(And dont tell me to ride the streetcar which I would love to but there is no way it has capacity to handle 10k+ people in the hour before/after games).

I'm still in favor of the move, just have some questions on the execution.
