It's a pretty great feeling, right? if one day I should have children, I'm going to get to talk about this team the way my dad and grandpa talked about those teams from the 80's. It's almost enough to make me want to have them. My only hope, if this situation ever plays out, is that they don't endure the same drought the rest of us did. Why does something so inconsequential, sport, inspire so much feeling? Today is amazing.

baseball fandom especially has a sense of poetry and romance about it.  i think because we invested so much time into watching the team over the course of the season.  Good chance I watched about 350 hours of Royals baseball since April.  That's a lot of time invested.
