His double error cost us just as many runs as he created

Seriously though. Anyone still disagree that there is a standard and consequences for Billy, and not for anyone else? Hosmer is a crap show in the field, and Willingham has 1 extra base hit since 8/23. Meanwhile Billy had his best month in August and rides the pine.

His 2nd half of August was pretty miserable actually.  That said, the other two aren't doing anything either.  I'd still have hoz at 1st and Billy at DH despite hosmer's poor last few games on defense.  We've all seen what Butler does at 1st over his career...we had to have better out of that position.

hosmer is not capable of being clutch at the plate. he just isn't. he's a rough ridin' loser. he's the opposite clutch and now he's playing a shitty first. at the very least, it should be hos/will/but evenly from here on out given opp pitching, etc.

Where has Billy ever proven to be clutch?

I don't think of Billy as particularly clutch or not clutch. He's just what he is.

A player that has led the Roys when we were average and below is all I'll ever know Billy Butler as.  Probably unfairly....and I couldn't care less if I'm wrong...I just want the right combo in there to take us to October.

More like tied with Detroit. We still have that Cleveland game to lose.

This team needs some fire, a commodity that has been noticeably lacking for several games (except the final game in Detroit).

Salvy hasn't had a day off since 8/23. I think tomorrow would be a good chance to rest him.

Good point. Kratz has certainly proven to be serviceable.

The offense is so putrid right now (ie, can't get worse), that I might try Butler in the third spot with Alex fourth to protect him a little, and bump Salvy down a spot, since he's also pressing. I'd actually like to slide Salvy to sixth, but not sure how you'd do that.

I used to think you were being a bit crazy, but :dunno: now.

I will say I like Willingham's patience and that he actually draws walks once in a while, but that's probably because it's so strange to see as a Royals fan.

In my mind's eye, I imagined us losing with Liam on the bump anyway. I think we get it tonight
