yes. at this time last year, the second wild card team had 63 wins and the royals were 4 games back. this year the second wild card has 60 wins and the royals are 1.5 games back. its very possible they could win all but one or two of their remaining 16 or so series without a sweep or getting swept, they would finish with around 89-90 wins. 92 wins got the second WC last year. 90 could get the royals in this year. thatd be .635 from here on out, and theyve won 7/10 and 9/12 since being swept by the sox.

is that mathematical enough for you, 'blast?

hey you know what, i see it playing out more like we lose more than two series the rest of the way so we will need to get a sweep or two to make up for it.

Has a team ever won every series from this point of the season till the end? Serious question.

probably.

until we won the Oakland series, those guys had not lost a series at home.  all season.

yeah that is just not true at all. they have lost 4 home series

This was the stat on 810 on my way to the airport Monday morning.  fwiw.

Also, went back and looked and they've only lost 2 home series - Texas and Seattle.  The Cleveland series is not concluded because the postponed game hasn't been replayed yet.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Yep, biggest Royals fan I know. Many people probably don't know that Stevesie's name comes from the single season home run record holder for the Royals.

I heard his dad was like "I want to name him after the Royals single season home run record holder" and him mom was like, "no way, let's name him after the only pitcher to record 2 no-hitters for the Royals" and then they realized both of those dudes were named Steve and just started high fiving.

I think I remember ksu_FAN telling me that ksu_FAN was an acronym. Something like:

Kurt Stillwell
Steve Farr
UL Washington
_
Felix Jose
Aquino, Luis
Floyd BaNister

because those were his favorite players. I can't remember for sure but I think it was something like that

There seems to be some confusion on this board, mostly caused by _FAN and CartierFor3 not having a single clue what they are talking about. I am a Royals 2014 fan, which is what gives me my zeal. While all of you dorks are like "we're not making the playoffs, this is just like 2002 and my heart is going to get broken again," I'm like, "I don't know what you're talking about but we have won over half of our games and in baseball that's extra difficult so we are good and we are going to win the whole damn thing." When they ask fun trivia questions during Royals games about past teams, I stare blankly at the options. I appreciate that whoever those guys are played for us at one time, but they don't right now, so they are completely irrelevant. Every year besides this year is the Ron Prince era of Royals baseball to me. So if I am named after a Royals individual, it would be our Physician Emeritus, whom I would be very proud to be named after.

Good for you, stevesie. That would be pretty depressing to be named after anyone from the Royals past organization. Not as bad from here moving forward tho.

Steve Balboni was fun to watch. Nothing like watching "The Great Balbonio" in action.
