Since Melky trade (40 gms): 6.01 ERA, 16-24 Record

43 games prior: 3.86 ERA, 29-14 Record

Don't quite follow the connection between Melky and our poor pitching.

It has nothing to do with Melky.  Just stating that since we made the trade for him, our pitching has just gone down the toilet.

It's sad. We had won 29 of 43, we just acquired a great bat to join an offense that was Ave 5.5 runs the last month and a half

That Strahm trade is looking good

I liked it at the time, but man has it been bad.

Maurer 7.85 ERA/2.13 WHIP
Buchter 3.66 ERA/0.97 WHIP
Cahill 8.69 ERA/2.19 WHIP

I guess Buchter has been decent, but he hasn't pitched a ton of high leverage situations.

What's funny is that Buchter (who hasn't pitched a meaningful inning that i can recall) was clearly the least important piece of that deal.

I'm stunned that anyone who had actually seen Cahill pitch thought he was anything other than bad.

I thought it was a weird trade just because I hadn't heard of any of the Padres pitchers and had a belief that if they were any good then the Padres probably wouldn't suck so badly.

Cahill pitched the last month of 2015 and all of 2016 with the Cubs. 60 of 61 were Bullpen Appearances, a 2.61 ERA.  Then ERA under 4 in 11 starts with SD this year.

I didn't think he would be such.a huge liability.

How many HR's has Moose hit since Mocat's infamous post bragging about his hr/plate appearance being the same post all star break? Might be the biggest curse in the history of the franchise.

It was well documented that he couldn't get AL hitters out, just like it was well documented Hamels couldn't get AL hitters out. Nice they had moderate success in the back of the Cubs bullpen though.

Thing is about being an NL starting pitcher is you get to pitch to a pitcher a lot, and half the teams are really bad to boot.

"well documented" ....uhhh ok

Cahill hadnt been on an AL team since 2011.
From 13'-16' he only pitched 22.1 innings vs AL teams, had a 3.63 ERA

Guys, let's talk about Rondon plunking moose and how that also may have mumped up the Royals season.

I heard the 610 hits talking about this too.

Over/under on innings/runs for Skoglund today?

I'm going 4 runs over 4 innings before Ned has to pull him. Hopefully we score some runs today.

I'm not feeling very good about today.
Skoglund last 50 batters faced...30 got on base. Yes a 600 OBP.

2 walks, 2 stolen bases, a single....and no Runs

Why, cause it's the Royals. They find a way to screw up something every F****ng game.
