Does this make anyone else really happy when it happens?

I love Sluggerrr so much.  Also, today's game might have been the most fun I've ever had at a game.  8manpick, MiegeCat, MSLH and I had a fantastic time.

Walk-off grand slams are the best. Nothing else equals them.  :royals:

MLB Stat of the Day ?@MLBStatoftheDay 1h
The @Royals own a 3.44 team ERA – lowest mark in AL. The last season to see the club finish with an ERA that low was 1978 (3.44).

When was the last time that the team with the lowest ERA in the AL failed to make the playoffs? (I have no idea, I mean this could be a fairly often occurrence but I'd imagine it's pretty rare)

the last time a team with the lowest ERA in the AL made it into the playoffs was the 2007 Boston Red Sox

Well, that settles it. The pitching is just too good. We have to get worse to get better.

however the following teams had the lowest ERA in the AL and were in the playoffs:

2002 Oakland
2003 Oakland
2004 Minnesota
2006 Detroit
2007 Boston

in the last 11 years, 5 teams have made it, 6 have not. can the royals bring it back to 50/50? probably not

The key to baseball is you have to be good, but not too good.

Baseball really is such a weird sport. How often does the team that gives up the fewest points miss the NFL playoffs?

That's a little different, because in football, teams with terrible offense can screw over the defense.  Doesn't really work like that in baseball.  Obviously, it took too long for our bats to come around this season, and they still aren't great.

2008 Texas and 2011 Boston are the only 2 teams that scored the most runs and didn't make the playoffs. Texas had the worst pitching in the league and Boston won 90 games.

Rangers leading Houston by 12 runs. Houston is laying down for everyone with a playoff chance.
