Pre emptive defensive flailing from an orioles fan as they slide out of the playoff picture is pretty delicious too, thank you wetwillie

Chris Young will probably not pitch again unless we are down by 10
Thank God (sorry Sys)

when the weather cools down is when young really shines.  the scoreless are just getting started, i'm happy to say.

Very fortunate indeed.  Have had lots of good luck with his starts lately.  6 innings of 1 run ball was a beatiful gift.

I'm way too lazy to look but I bet there's tons of awesome stuff on the internet tonight about how lucky this team is. Just imagining someone is saying that on the 'net is delicious.

Having him/the 5th rotation man not being an auto L has been one key in many to the royals turning it around. Even with the loss he had in his last start he still pitched 5 1/3 and gave up a not too bad 3 runs. The offense just never picked him up. And the game against minni was easily his best a 7 IP and 1 ER.

if volkie doesn't suck tomorrow, it will be a miracle, but if he does suck then that's not too bad because kennedy is the next day.

This is going to be a nerve racking month. Our odds are improving, but it feels like we'll need some other teams to fall apart to push through.

Wild card ---
Royals 14 of 31 remaining games vs teams w/winning record
O's 21 of 31 vs team w/winning record
Hou 19 of 31
Det 16 of 31 ( 6 of those are against Us)
Sea 15 of 31
NYY 25 of 32 (2 are against Us)

Division --
Clev 20 of 32 remaining games vs teams w/winning record (6 games against Us)

*Of all those teams, Royals have the highest % of games at home left. We have 19 of 31 games at the K.

i'm more worried about houston and detroit at this point.  baltimore is dead and done.  and hopefully cleveland hits a poor stretch.

houston is intriguing because their remaining schedule is they just play what amounts to the twins about 100 times

EDIT: never mind they have a 13-game stretch of Texas - Cleveland - Cubs - Texas

Houston first 16 games of Sept are against winning teams...and right now the matchup for Sept 10-12 have them facing the Cubs Arrietta & Hendricks, and Hammels for Texas.  10 of those 16 are on the road with the Cubs/Texas playing 3 at Hou.

It is important that we win this upcoming series with Det. Losing 2 of 3 wouldn't be good

we've got duffy, ventura & gee and we miss verlander, so i feel pretty good.  a little worried about duffy, but still medium confident.

mondesi has a strong shortstop type arm, so he could play third and then call up fieldsie (or gore, or burns) to play 2nd, which anyone can do.

i would like to see them try cuthbert at catcher some winter or spring.  he's got a strong arm and a catcher's body and a catcher's speed, and he'd be a lot more valuable as a catcher than as a third baseperson.

Sometimes it terrifies me that sys might coach one of his kids little league teams.  :)
