Orlando should lead off.  Escobar is done.

You don't have a problem?  It's the 9th inning and we are down a run. He is already in scoring position.

It's not like Salvy or Kendrys is running.  It was rough ridin' stupid, absolutely no reason to try and steal there

To refresh your memory, Dyson stole 3rd base in the 14' Wildcard, in the 9th inning with 1 out. Aoki hit the SacFly to score him to score game tying run.  Next guy got out. So a chance Dyson never scores without the steal

Now 2night, I don't have an issue with him stealing, but you need a good lead, a good read from pitcher, and a good jump.   I think Paulo thought the pitcher wasn't paying attention to him and took off....but his lead and jump just looked weak to me...thus he was out pretty clearly in live action

To refresh your memory, at the time we were 6 games below .500.  Down 1, with someone not Dyson(Orlando) trying to steal a base when they were already in scoring position.

Dyson gets a hit, that would have maybe scored Orlando.  In any case, Orlando is not a slow runner, at all.  He would most likely have scored.  Which I would have must rather seen than what happened.

We can't get to the wildcard with stupid crap like this tonight.  So your entire point is invalid.

with one out, it makes perfect sense to steal third if you're good at it.  the problem is that orlando is superfast but not good at stealing bases.  it's very frustrating.

The wild card is long gone, even before 2nite.  I just wish KC would win games at home when it's close.

Dyson trying his steal in 14.... There was a lot more on the line.

I'm not saying I think Paulo should have stole (same with Dyson in 14 as we had our #2,3 hitters up with in scoring position and 1 out).  But you better be good at stealing 3rd. Paulo probably thought he was...and he wasn't

Yeah, it wasn't good at all.  I guess I'm just so much more frustrated with the whole season. :frown:

Hos is 47 for last 209, a .225 ave

Mo is 18 for last 100, a .180 ave

Salvy is 24 for last 122, a .197 ave

Gordo is 15 for last 88, a .170 ave (29 total bases, 28 SO)

Esky is 22 for last 106, a .208 ave

We have allowed 95 runs (5.0 per game) last 19 games at the K...thus the 7-12 record

I don't have an issue with Paulo trying to steal 3rd, but his lead and jump were pretty bad. He clearly isn't near as good as Dyson trying to steal 3rd...but that's because I cant remember Paulo ever stole 3rd...thus very little expensive in trying

I have a huge issue with it, incredibly bad baserunning and bad baseball. You have a lefty in the box with almost no chance of hitting a sac fly.

Under no circumstance do you try to steal 3rd when you're the tying run at second in the bottom of the 9th. It would be stupid if your best right-handed hitter was up facing a guy burying splitters in the dirt. As it was, we had a light hitting lefty seeing a diet of belt high fast balls. He was out by 8 feet.

What Dyson did in 14 was a reckless gamble that paid off. Not strategy you build a franchise on.

This. I might try to steal 3rd with Dyson, but that's it.

I've never seen a worse jump, and the feet first slide was terrible. He slowed up to slide.
