The sad thing is.. it was probably the best option we had.  It's just so Royals it's kind of depressing.

Duffy headed back to Omaha, but expected back for the September roster expansion. As I understand it, as a September call-up he wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs...but that assumes the Royals make the playoffs.

Why would we send him down? He just threw a one hitter and he has a ton of potential while Davis has been sucking for months now. We should keep Duffy in the rotation and put Davis in the bullpen.

Agreed. But the Royals seem to want to keep him in the minors this year (except for MLB doubleheaders) while he rehabs from Tommy John surgery. He's better than Davis, and I'd like to see him on the 25-man roster.
