It's amazing how scared Toronto is of a Roys comeback.

Nothing says, "I believe in my guys," like putting your closer in up 5 with 1 out in the 9th, when you have a day game starting in less than 16 hours.

These Roys will take this series. Hard to come back from that hole, but you can tell they want it.

historically bad outing from our pitcher and we lost by 3 and got osuna in.  not as bad as it could've been.

Very true.

But these are the games we brought Cueto here to win, even an average night for a real ace should have the Royals at 3-0. I didn't care about his bad starts in the regular season, but this crap tonight was too much and there is no excuse for it.

That said, we're still in good shape and we'll probably have to rely on Cueto again. I hope he doesn't prove to be the terrible pitcher he was tonight again.

I don't care about the games he lost, but I care that he lost them. If he were lights out up until tonight, this game is just an outlier. Instead, he's been pulling this crap for half of a season and is our 5th best starter.

J Guts would have performed much better. Leave Cueto off the WS roster, and I am serious and not melting down at all.

I mean, we might not even be playing in this game if not for Cueto, but he melted down hard today.

You don't stop pitching him, because him and Ace are the only pitchers we have that could turn in another gem like game 5. Also, if there's any team that can survive a starter performance like this and be fine going forward its these Royals.

anyone who couldn't have imagined it hasn't watched cueto pitch over the last 2.5 months.  i mean, they could very easily have imagined other outcomes as well, but this was entirely within the range of probable outcomes.  a good manager would have not let him come out for the third.  a competent manager would have removed him before tulo's hr.  yost was simply horrible today, in exactly the same way he was foolish to leave volksie and ventura in for their last innings the last two games.  he just got away with those mistakes.

and if he starts cueto in game 7 (he will), he'll deserve to lose it, because cueto pitching poorly is a very predictable event.

you do stop pitching him.  because he may be more likely to throw a shutout than medlen (may be, i'm certainly not saying he is), but he's also far more likely to give up 6 in 2.  medlen gives you a higher probability of a decent or better start.  they can score on stroman, they don't need to roll the dice on a shutout, they need the guy more likely to keep them in the game.
