Ned said in postgame that he isn't concerned about Greg. Then he got angry when more Holland questions came and he refused to discuss Greg anymore.

Ned's never going to come out and throw somebody under the bus. What Ned says after a disappointing loss doesn't really matter, like, at all.

I agree that Ned doesn't throw players under the bus. I wasn't suggesting that he should have, nor would I ever want him to. My point is that although he says he isn't concerned (which I don't believe), his anger with the continued questions reflects just how concerned he is. He's pretty edgy about it, as he should be.

I doubt he gets another chance as closer. He's done though. I trust Guthrie more.

there's still 15 games left, i think they'll give him more chances.  i've seen enough, but i think they'll want to see more.  it's not like the other pitchers will need to make huge adjustments to their roles.

maybe they make the move early to see if holland can still be useful as a earlier inning guy.  that doesn't make any sense to me though.  if he can't pitch the 9th, he can't pitch.

If he gets more chances, he won't get many unless he somehow turns things around. If he doesn't, sys is right--it's hard to envision Greg in a meaningful postseason role. He's not a long relief guy, and if he can't close he can't set up. It's sad to see this.

We have been spoiled, but Greg Holland 2013-2014 is the best a closer has been in this franchise's history.

Rios, Cueto, Infante, you can argue any of the guys who have struggled in 2015 haven't earned the leash they've been given, Greg has. Greg earned the 2nd, 3rd, 4th chance because he has been so good. Greg Holland was better than Soria, Monty, Quiz, Roberto Hernandez, any of them.

When it goes, sometimes it goes fast. Greg Holland is now an ordianry releiver, and he'll never be a valuable part of this team again. JMHO.
Are you comparing position players to the closer?

Nevermind, read the rest of the post. Whoops

So either the Royals will win, or Greg Holland will be that much closer to losing the closer's job. Good news either way.

yep, this was accurate.

who are you quoting? also, yes.

I'm happy Cueto pitched well and that Holly is helping Ned make easier post season decisions. The loss doesn't bother me much.

Extra innings losses are the worst

To be fair, I didn't watch at all, just listened the last couple of innings.

I do. The 1 game HFA lead is concerning.

But long term, Cueto pitching well again and Ned continuing to "discover" Holly's problems are just as important.

i appreciate volkie's ability to limit the damage with runners on.  i do not appreciate his insistence on entertaining multiple baserunners every rough ridin' inning.

11 base runners thru 5 Inn

I feel like this has happened about 80% of Royal starts this month.

It will be interesting watching the JV bullpen try to hold this thing.
