Guys, this trade was a waste if anyone besides Infante spends most of the time on the bench because of this.

I'm sure Infante will be on the bench when Gordon gets back. I don't really care who sits before that. We are finishing first. We would have finished first without this trade. I'm only concerned about our postseason lineup at this point.

He's batted 2nd/3rd most of his career, but his best production is in the 5th/6th spots.

True, and maybe it's worth it to let Omar down easy.

Zobrist will platoon LF until Gordo gets back.  Other than that I will not be surprised if he is our insurance guy and platoons at 2B and RF for the rest of season/playoffs.  I could see Infante starting every game and Zobrist coming in around the 6th inning.

What in the world? If your defensive replacement is a better offensive player than your starter, he should start.

Zobrist will start almost every game from here on out.

Dayton is saying Zobrist will be the LF.

'Bristy is Gordo 2.0 at the plate, except he can bat righty too. In another 6 weeks we will have two Alex Gordons.

Since taking over early Sept last year, Esky has hit .299 in the lead off spot.
His OBP is .333 in that time.  No reason at all to bump him from lead off spot

Zo OBP is 20 pts higher, but his Ave is about 30 pts lower.... Comparing to Esky

IMO, Zo hits 6th and then probably 7th when Gordo comes back.

He's not leading off. It's his 2nd worst spot in the lineup.

I think OBP is more important than average for the leadoff hitter. The best case for keeping Escobar at the 1 spot, imo, is that Zobrist only has 1 SB this season.

"Brooks, a 25-year-old right-hander, was a ninth-round pick out of Cal State-San Bernadino in 2011. He's 42-32 with a 4.21 ERA in the minor leagues, and has a 20.57 ERA in seven innings with the Royals over the past two seasons."

Its so close though.  For every 60 ABS, Esky gets about 18 hits, 2BB/HBP. Zo gets 16H and 5 BB/HBP.

I really think Esky likes hitting leadoff. No proof of this but I Dont think Esky hits .299 if he is hitting 8th/9th but that's my gut feeling

I'm not saying this is what I would do, I'm saying what I think will happen.  Ned already has said that Zobrist will be playing LF.  When Gordon is back, I'm not sure what Zobrist will play.  I have a hard time seeing Ned bench Infante that late in the season, especially if Infante stays hot.  Zobrist will become the utility fill-in during the games for RF and 2nd.  Yost appreciates Infante's glove which is why I think Infante will continue to start and then Zobrist will fill in.  Zobrist has an easier time replacing Rios as a starter than he does Infante.

Come World Series time, Zobrist would be the first or second option to pinch hit (depending on situation as whether he is first or second).

zobrist will not be a pinch hitter in the world series ... unless something crazy happens, he will be playing somewhere in the world series ... 2B, RF, wherever

Also Gordo was awful coming off his last major injury for a solid month.  Zobrist could split time with Gordo during games if he is struggling to get back in the groove.

Just to make it clear, I also want to see Zobrist as a starter.  I just worry Ned is going to emphasize the team chemistry and utilize Zobrist as a fill-in when Gordon gets back.
