It's smart to tell the Cardinals fans that we will vote for them, though. It's not like they will be able to see the results in time to adjust.

If we did trade for a pitcher.....

Yes, Blanton is gone or thrown into the trade.
Yes, a reliever is also gone IMO in the trade.
I dont think Vargas is going anywhere.  I don't think Guts is either, but I think Guts would be in the deal before Vargas.  If we talking Cueto, Cincy may not want Vargas last 2 years of deal.  Guts cost them 0 next year.

That still gives 14 possible pitchers to be part of the 13 we carry (if we rid of Blanton plus 1 more)

Not sure which Reliever is most likely trade bait.

no one with a starting pitcher the royals would want is going to take vargas or guthrie.  like the royals woudl have to give them extra prospects for them to agree to take those guys in addition to the cheap major leaguers or prospects they want for the pitcher the royals want.

I agree. I think it's very unlikely as it would cost them couple million to take on Jeremy.  But a very slight chance they like our prospects and deal more than other teams deals, and they just decide they are ok with the added $$ to do it.   Very unlikely, but IMO not 100% unlikely

Showing my ignorance here, but how do you record a strikeout that ends with the runner on base?  I've wondered that and want to know.

If the catcher drops the 3rd strike, he has to throw you out at first.

I think he's just asking how you score it in a scorebook. I was wondering the same thing actually.

Found it.
Quote
Step 1
Score the play "K WP" if the batter reaches first base on a wild pitch third strike. Wild pitches are considered the pitcher's fault.
Step 2
Score the play "K PB" if the batter reaches first base on a passed ball third strike. Passed balls are considered the catcher's fault.
Step 3
Score the play "K 2-3" if the third strike is uncaught, but the catcher throws the batter out at first base. The "2" signifies the catcher's numerical position in scoring, and the "3" represents the first baseman. If, by some chance, another player gets in on the putout, score the play with the appropriate positional numbers.
Step 4
Score the play "K 2U" if the third strike is uncaught, and the catcher tags out the batter before he reaches first. The "U" represents unassisted, meaning the catcher made the putout himself.

There was a "K 1-3" in the Twins game yesterday because the ball bounced off the backstop all the way back to the pitcher.
