We do need him. I just want him to get out of his funk. What's not to like about him? He throws 100 mph and he's like 4 feet tall. Those intangibles however can certainly be disastrous when it comes to health. I just hope he's a freak and it never bothers him.

Height and velocity are tangible

Naming him our ace was a bit too much, too soon. I mean, I liked it, but I don't think he was ready for it mentally. Obviously, I could be a major dumbass and I could be completely wrong. I just want more consistency from him.

Also, I listen to a lot of BITB and maybe he's implanted some seeds into my brain that make me feel this way.

Arm issues also freak me out. I was overused a lot in high school and on my summer teams. I was pumped with a lot of cortisone shots to get through it. My coaches varsity bluesed the crap out of me.

Have you guys thought5 about how pricey it's going to be with all these All-Star bonuses?  :frown:

Royals attendance is pretty much guaranteed to set a team record. Right now we're averaging 32,418 a game, and the weekend series is sold out already. Last year we averaged 24,154. As recently as 2006 we were under 18K a game, and as recently as 2010 we were below 20K.

Think about this, our lowest single game attendance in 2015 was on 4/9 (a cold day game against Chicago when school was not yet out) and it was 20,236. That's HIGHER than our per game average every year from 1995 to 2010 except 2003, 2004, and 2009.

If we average 34K per game (I think we'll be close) the rest of the year, we'd end up with a season attendance of 2.7 million. We haven't gone over 2 million since 1991. That would be a 1 million fan increase over 2013 and 2012.

Royals fans rule.

I think Ourdano's biggest issue is he lost his edge. He pitched his best last season when he had a swagger and fire. All the early season bullshit kind of got it taken away from him. Hopefully when he gets back he can string a few good outings together and regain some of it.

As far as injuries, they'll always be a concern. They are with any pitcher. However, none of his injuries to this point have been the gateway to TJ type injuries.

i don't think ventura is going to be high quality number 1.  nothing to do with his mental capacities or temperament.  i think people just overrate how difficult he is to hit.  his effective velocity is less than his measured velocity (2-3 mph, iirc, because he is short and doesn't extend as much prior to release as most pitchers).  velocity aside, his fastball doesn't appear to be very difficult for hitters to track and contact.  his other pitches are fine, but not superb.  i think he's more a nice solid 3 or maybe a 2, unless he remakes his delivery or improves an offspeed pitch or develops better fb command or something.  i also think he does not have great endurance.  i don't know if that is something that typically develops with age in pitchers or not, but i think it's hard to call a guy a good 1 when his effectiveness pretty dramatically tails off in later innings.

i'm still very happy to have him.

not super worried about dick duffy.  like ventura, i think royals fans think he's some delicate flower mentally, whereas his difficulties, imo have probably been physical.  they say he's been throwing great since he started the simulated games and whatnot and i believe them.

You guys, the Royals are 4-0 when I am in attendance. Just think about that next time you have an extra ticket to a game, is what I'm saying.

2 runners caught in rundowns between 3rd and home is unacceptable

they'll score on this guy eventually.  and on the bullpen.  volky just needs to keep it reasonable.

I hope so. 6  base runners (1 HR among those 6) 3 stolen bases. 1 lousy run. In 3 innings
