Seems like Guts is either really good or really bad every time he goes out there. That's a lot better than he'd be if he just went out and consistently threw his stat line every time.
Probably so.
Denny was talking the other night about the general rule for good starting pitchers. About 5 starts they are lights out and about 5 starts they are awful. Then there are 20-25 when they are okay and they have to grind out wins/losses. Seems about right.
I think Guts is more Good or Bad than Mediocre/OK.
Past 2 years (2013-2014). He has had....
30 starts GOOD. Going at least 6 Inn. Giving up 2ER or less
28 start BAD where he gave up at least 4 ER or failed to go 5.0 Inn
Only 7 starts where he does something in between
This year... 1 good, 4 bad, 1 OK (5 inn 3 ER)
