I generally don't believe in "bulletin board material" at the college level, let alone for professionals. And especially in baseball. What is Baltimore going to do, swing harder? Pitch harder? :dunno:

Probably is irrelevant to the game, but I'm just nervous about that getting thrown in our faces.

8man and I already covered this cf3. You don't have to listen to the parrot to feel better about this game.

And if Dyson's comments don't terrify you, I'm not sure I understand how your brain functions. Dyson needs to keep that to himself IMO

So in your mind, dyson's comments inspire more motivation than the threat of going down 3-0?  Like, now that dyson said that the Baltimore players will try hard to hit the ball when at the plate whereas before they were just like "meh, who cares"?

Oh, well yeah, me too.  They're good so that's certainly a possibility.

I'm probably just going to be irrationally nervous every game, even though this team has already exceeded my hopes for the season. You guys are right, Dyson's comments don't mean much. But I just keep coming back to it being Guthrie and Vargas, and we could be 2-2 by 7 tomorrow night with Baltimore regaining the home field. I keep thinking of the 96 WS. Sorry I'm being a gloomy gus. The day off just gave me a day to get nervous.

cartier: Baltimore has seven players with 10 or more at-bats against Guthrie, and none of them have hit better than .250. Notably, Adam Jones is 1-for-12 lifetime, Nelson Cruz is 6-for-24, Nick Markakis is 3-for-12 and J.J. Hardy is 3-for-14.

cartier: Wei-Yin Chen has seen 11 of Kansas City's 14 position players in regular-season matchups, with Billy Butler owning the most at-bats against Chen (18) among Royals batters. The designated hitter has batted .444 (8-for-18) with two doubles, a triple, two homers and four RBIs.
Eric Hosmer is 7-for-17 with two homers and five RBIs against Chen, while Alex Gordon (5-for-16), Lorenzo Cain (4-for-12) and Mike Moustakas (2-for-6) are also above-.300 lifetime hitters when facing the left-hander. Overall, the Royals have a .314 batting average and a .525 slugging percentage against Chen in the regular season.

cartier: in 2 games (15 innings) vs the Orioles this year, this is Guthrie's combined line:

14 H, 1 HR, 2 BB

this is what Guthrie's stat line looks like without Chris Davis, Manny Machado, and Jemile Weeks:

9 H, 0 HR, 1 BB

interesting podcast.  they talk to a guy who is supposed to be really good at watching people throw baseballs.  he says a lot of stuff about duffy and how he's totally broken and the royals prolly aren't going to risk pitching him anytime when it's important this year.  didn't sound like he thought duffy is hurt though and sounded like there's no reason he shouldn't be back to the old dick duffy next year.

also talked a little about how ventura doesn't throw as hard
as he throws and mentioned wade davis by name.

listen i've been scared multiple times since the postseason started. just enjoy it everybody. all we have to do is win two games, in five chances, vs a team that you have not trailed to at all in 2 full games.  :driving:

It's because we talked about the wind effects about 70 posts back for about 3 posts. Can't believe you missed it and gave mocat credit for just parroting what we already said
:adios:
