would we bring duffy in for the 7th?  i wouldn't mind it.  i'd be fine with finnegan too.

The way he is mowing them down we might get 7 or 8 innings out of him.

i'd prefer we take him out after 6.  for sure after 7.  there is no need to go longer than that.

i think i would have run gore there.  salvy isn't worth more than the backup at the plate.  ventura doesn't bury a ton of pitches.  so it's mostly just a matter of his pitch calling.  i think i'd have given that up for the chance to move gore along the bases.

congrats.  gore wouldn't score and we wouldn't have salvy anymore.  great managing.

agree with carnes.  you don't want to push ventura, the bottom seems to fall out of him so fast at 90-100 pitches or so.

i think we should definitely pitch duffy in the 7th.  with a day off tomorrow there is literally no reason not to but i have a feeling we won't.  it should be duffy, davis, holland.  these 2 hits they've gotten are complete bush.

We are ahead for one, why would you ever take Salvy out in the 5th inning, and we may need gores speed late in the game when it would actually be a good call

they have two turn a runner on first into a runner on 2nd cards in their pocket.  it's a shame not to use them.  a run in the fifth is worth the same a run later.  who knows if they'll even have another slow runner on first no outs oppy.

the value of waiting for a later oppy to me is nil, that's a silly argument.  the question is how much is salvy worth on d vs gore instead of him on first.

I'd rather have Trout or Pujols drilled. Or both.

you are not getting baseball.  you cannot pinch run for salvy there.  it is way too god damn early to do that.

With that line of thinking you would probably run a suicide squeeze with runners on 2nd and 3rd nobody out in the 3rd down 1

i think yordano is fine for the 6th.  but why pitch yordano if we have the guys to finish it out?  so in conclusion, i'm agreeing with you.

bunting trades off the chances of a hit in order to advance runners.  putting in gore does not sacrifice anything offensively, the only sacrifice is defensive.  it's really not comparable at all.
