These are grown men oozing testosterone mostly making millions of dollars. You guys really think emotional support is their most pressing need? Is that how you think sports work?
He babies them and they like it. Have you seen how sensitive some of these guys were when they were losing earlier in the season? We're not dumbasses, we're just giving our  :th_twocents: and I don't think we're far off.

hmm. ok you convinced me. go royals.

Guys I want to say I'm sorry I doubted the Royals this year and was at times mean to Royals fans.  I #believe and I'm rooting for the Royals because I like seeing my friends and people around me so happy.

Hey guys, I think we all agree that Ned can be a dumbass sometimes and can be great at others. In the end, whatever side of the fence you're on about Ned, his good and bad moves combined to make the game even more epic.

And guess what? THE ROYALS WON!!!!!!!!!! :excited: So let's all#1royal #beroyal #takethecrown #everybodysungwootonight #1kc #fucksomeangelsup etc, etc, etc

Its Vargas.

i came here prepared to spend all day defending yost's ridiculous pitching decision yesterday by pointing out ad nauseum that no other manager would have done what speed did to the a's.

and then i see this.  somehow, some way, i hope he dies before thursday night, so saner heads can prevail.

In the days to come, some people will no doubt try to use this as a referendum on the A’s versus the Royals and on Moneyball versus old-school thinking, as if a game this wild, this tight, this utterly drop-dead gorgeous could serve as a standard-bearer for either school of thought. This game didn’t vindicate Billy Beane or Dayton Moore. This game vindicated baseball.

Other than the play where he tried to double steal with Billy Butler and Eric Hosmer, anyway.

i spent a lot of time thinking about it today, and i now think that was a good play.  or at the very least not a bad play.  it comes back to two out 0-2 count to gordon (v. lester) when the play was put on.  i dunno if someone can find out what lefties hit v. lester on 0-2 counts, but i bet it's really low.  if the play works 20% of the time (i think it prolly does) those are prolly better than the odds of gordon getting a hit.

It's amazing how fans bitch over 1 or 2 mistakes taken by a manager during an entire game, but they never want to credit the good. Fan's do a really good job of being ignorent at times.

TV said the angels pulled off that exact play against oakland last week, we just performed it terribly (both runners did)

Danny Duffy will be used as a long reliever, and could be a candidate to start Game 4.

As a very casual (and LIQ) mlb fan I will say the free swinging, base stealing, fly ball catching Royals are more fun to watch than say, the 00s Yankees and Red Sox that seemed to have tons of 10 pitch at bats.

So Shields on Sunday.  Not really a surprise. Probably means Guthrie isn't rostered.

Velocity has been down his last two starts. Starting him in the pen seems the thing to do.
