the innings limit for yordano and duff man is problematic tho. if we have to shut them both down in september like the nationals did with strasburg a couple years back, we'll be effed.

I will absolutely lose my $&@ if the Royals shut down Yordano or Duffy in the middle of a pennant race. The latest research/real world evidence out there is showing that innings limits (season-wise) in the major leagues don't seem to make much difference in reducing arm issues...they now think it has more to do with how the pitcher was developed as a kid. I mean, the Nationals couldn't have blown that situation worse if they tried. Throw away their chance at winning it all, and then Stasburg still blows out his arm.

It's becoming apparent that you gotta ride your horses hard as long as you can. Surgery is becoming a given, no matter how much you baby your pitchers with a season innings limit, so don't blow what may be your one shot for the fickle promise of an uncertain future.

if the royals are in a playoff race I'm okay if we explode some of our players to clear the road ahead. this is like a kamikazee mission. we aren't the rough ridin' yankees. this may be it guys.

my gut tells me no way will they do that. The Process is at its peak. We are standing at Rodin's Gates of Hell waiting for the thrush to knock so that we can get inside and take the Iron Throne. We're going to the playoffs.

Why in the world would kc shut down ventura or duffy? If it were me i would trade any of coleman/herrera/hoch +  lo cain/dyson or aoki to get a stud reliever and a platoon middle infielder. That would make one hell of a team but herrera would be tough to let go of based on potential

teams freak out about their young pitchers man.. i never would have believed that the nationals would shut down stras.

but they did..  :dunno:

I don't think Dayton is necessarily feeling the heat from the Glass family, but he sure as crap isn't going to throw away his best chance at a resume builder by shutting down one of his young studs on the mound, especially when the alternative is oscar Chen. If somebody develops an injury that could get worse by continuing to pitch, then I could see it, but he doesn't really have the luxury of playing for the future right now.

think about this lineup, and who you would get rid of in a trade. (in all honesty the field is set but the bullpen needs one more arm)

1. infante/aoki
2. dyson
3. hoz
4. gordo
5. salvy
6. cain
7. esky
8. billy
9. moose

Rotation

Shields
Guthrie
Duffy
ventura

Bullpen
Davis
Herrera
Chen(when he comes back)
Crow
coleman
holland
Hoch-not sure anyone would want him right now

so you can get rid of valencia or ciriaco and probably throw in a coleman/herrera type and get a pretty sweet deal

I guess my question is do they even make a trade? looks like a damn good lineup from here

okay that was off the top of my head, the royals are stockpiled with young talent. it would be hard to make a meyer/shields move this year imo. chen coming back and strengthening the bullpen is huge if they stick to a four man rotation(i know i left vargas off but you can only have 25 guys in the dugout)

The only way I see us making a move is if Infante/Escobar has an injury that causes them to miss the rest of the season. We really don't have any options there.
