I have a really hard time believing that Keegan has the inside scoop on this.

His LJWorld pieces has now be "cited" by everyone from Dennis Dodd to Cowherd.

What do you think they will re-name the Big 10?

if UT can go the Big 10 and that makes sense geographically then the big 12 can go get Memphis

and if CU goes to Pac 10 we can get BYU.

not worried as long as A&M stays put.

The BigXII's best play there would be to go get Memphis, Missouri State, and Crieghton and create a basketball conference and try their best to keep Nubb, A&M, and OU.  We would be about as mumped as could be were UT to run to the Big 10.

I don't see them doin git though.  They are the big dog here.  At the Pac 10 they would get crap all over.

Yeah, if Keegan got this scoop, it would be his first.  I guess you could say he is due, though...

If Texas would jump to the Big 10, would they want to impose the sh1tty revenue sharing agreement that makes the rest of the Big 12 suck the hind tit now?  Conversely, if Texas left, could we structure a Big 10-like revenue sharing agreement and move the fracking league offices out of Dallas?

Without Texas, the Big12 dies.

Alums of TT, aTm, and Baylor in the Texas Legislature wouldn't go for it. They threatened involvement back in the waning days of the SWC when Texas was getting offers, if memory serves.

This move would really make no sense.  Texas pretty much runs the Big XII as it is, and they would have to give up a lot of their sweet revenue to the other teams in the big 10.  Plus, their closest away game would be Iowa.  I don't think too many Texas fans would be happy having to take planes to every away game.  In addition having to play A&M and OU in the OOC would be brutal.

Basically, this is all just stupid speculation.

I would pick Utah.  We don't need any more private universities.

Amazing the lengths Texas will go to get away from having to play us.

It'll never happen.  All those arguments could be made about ut joining pretty much any football conference in the country if/when they ever expand.

This is just basically designed to apply pressure to Notre Dame and/or Missouri.

Dream scenario if Texas and Colorado left the Big 12:

North:

Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Utah, BYU

South:

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor

Dream Scenario if Texas & CU left the big 12:

Ohio State
Michigan
Michigan State
Illinois
Wisconsin
Northwestern
Purdue
Indiana
Minnesota
Penn State
Iowa
KState
Whoever else they want in the expansion

I think the value of Texas to the Big 12 is being undersold by many.  Now whether the rest of the conference is grabbing ankle in terms of the revenue sharing... that's another story.

Here is what I expect to happen:

Texas: Hey Big 12 losers, we could make $X more by moving to the B10.  We'll stay with you guys, which is the only way the B12 will be distinguishable from the Mountain West, but we want a larger share of the B12 revenues.

Rest of B12: Thank you sir, may we have another?  Sorry, Baylor, KSU and ISU, but you guys need to fork over your share to Texas.

Baylor, KSU and ISU: Thank you sirs, may we have another?  Please don't banish us to the WAC!

Iowa State would probably dominate the MVC.
