Suggestion: Ignore Feature
« on: February 10, 2010, 05:50:19 PM »
An ignore feature might help prevent some of the threads with solid discussion from getting hijacked.  I realize I'm unpopular with you guys, and my opinion isn't very well respected, but I honestly get tired of all the personal attacks.

As in ignore another user?  If so, just in that thread or in all of them?

they have that feature on "the phog" dunno if it's good or bad but the people who say lame/unfunny things to bmw every single time he posts something does get a little old.

it's a feature that just makes another invisible to you. what i don't really get though is that it would make it confusing if someone replied to him and you only saw the reply and not the original. also, what if someone quotes him and replies. i dunno, it just seems like it would not be a feature i'd ever want to personally use.

Is that why you deleted your account over at KSUFans ?

What this option would do (if implemented...):
Replace the text of the post by the following

"You are ignoring this user.  Show me the post"

and you could click on show me the post to reveal its contents.

It's pretty important for me to know what everyone's saying so I know whether to poster intimidate them or not.

Report problems to the moderator.  Decisions will proceed from there.

The feature as chings described it seems designed for when one poster is rough ridin' things up for many and the mods don't do anything about it, not for one poster to ignore those who disagree with him.

i think (could be wrong) that bmw is suggesting that people who don't like hm or don't like him here could put him on ignore. that's how i read it anyway.

You're wrong and I'm ignoring your interpretation.  How's it feel?

honestly pretty good. i'm 99% sure i'm right and then when bmw confirms i'll be like "wow, this trim character isn't very good at interpreting things and providing good analytical analysis of stuff and things of that sort of nature."  :driving:

That would be the best way to do it, IMO.

The feature as chings described it seems designed for when one poster is fracking things up for many and the mods don't do anything about it, not for one poster to ignore those who disagree with him.

i think (could be wrong) that bmw is suggesting that people who don't like hm or don't like him here could put him on ignore. that's how i read it anyway.

The beautiful thing about it is that it works both ways.  Those that hate me with a passion don't have to be subjected to any of my posts, and I won't have to deal with the two or three guys that have to put me down every time I offer up an opinion.

Sounds like I was right.  I'd gloat all over daris' face, but I'm ignoring him.

Ignore functions are the first step toward Premium and ultimately Piercing.

I quite honestly never get tired of your stuff because you always keep it so fresh? :flush:  What a puss. :jerk:
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

I don't want goEMAW to be responsible for a crazy man going off on the public.  We should probably just let any frustration from dobbie die down.  My $.02
