1) Justification for not playing: doesn't know playbook, but is a better runner/passer then both qbs (my understanding)

2) Our offense sucks: most plays are getting broken as they start

3) If plays are already not what the playbook dictates wouldn't it make sense to have
a) a qb that can run the ball (not coffman)
b) a qb that can throw the ball to open receivers? (not Klein)
