The thing that was going to beat us, beat us. We turned the ball over way too much, that led to layups. Serena was amazing, as suspected, Ayoka was just okay. Jeff crafted a fantastic defensive game plan. We didn't get anything from Temira, in fact there were stretches in which she was awful, which led Jeff to thinking he needed to steal Giz minutes, and we know how poorly that turned out. Jae and Taryn were bad for the same reason, neither of them nearly close to athletic enough to get their own shot. Zy was really good again, particularly offensively, she's gotta get in the lab in the off season and get better offensively, so she can stay on the court for longer stretches next year.

I'm sad this era of K-State Women's Basketball is over, excited for what's next.

Speaking of what's next, Jordan Speiser is in the McDonald's All American Game three point contest today at 6:30 and the girls McDonalds game tomorrow at 5:30, both on ESPN2. They had a McD's scrimmage yesterday and she hit 3s on 3 out of 4 consecutive trips down the court.

Shots weren't falling last night, she was kind of forcing things early on. Probably just tired from the week's festivities. She has great vision/passing skills and can create for herself and her teammates off the dribble.

Anyone with thoughts on the makeup of the rotation next year? Obviously, a lot of variables still TBD (portal, etc.), but as the roster currently stands, it's a bit tough to project. Assuming no more attrition, we still have 2 scholarships to get to 13 (assuming we don't go to 15).

Lester & Sanchez need to make significant improvements in the off-season to be counted on for 20+ minutes next year (probably a stretch). Regardless, I really hope we pull in at least one (if not two) post players with one of them being a 10+ ppg scorer.

Starting
Walker (PG)
Speiser (SG/SF)
B. Glenn (SG/SF)
Sanchez (SF)
Lester (C)

Bench
Sides (PG/SG)
Foy (SG)
Harrod (SF)
Parks (wouldn't think would play much)
Ohnstad (no idea how much she'll play)
Hess (no idea how much she'll play)

Don't think you'll see B. Glenn in the starting lineup.  Or on the bench.

Man, I really like Sanchez but I hope we don't end up needing to start her (unless she significantly upgrades her game before next season starts).

unless significant improvements are made b/w sanchez and lester, I can’t see a reason why they would both be starting.

my guess is that we play four out and let sanchez/lester split time.  so maybe walker, speiser, sides, sanchez/lester, someone who can contribute 15 a game

Neither Sanchez or Lester will be starting. If we don't pull a center out of the portal Kennedy will be the starting center. If we don't get a starting forward out of the portal Harrod, Foy, or Hess will be starting at the 4.

The only sure starters we have on the roster right now are Walker and Speiser. Derek Young is saying that Walker is a potential portal entry. We have a lot of work to do in the portal.

Speaking of, the women's portal is absolutely insane right now. There are more women than men in the portal. Literally 1/4 of the sport is in the portal. The consensus #2 pick in the WNBA draft, Olivia Miles, pulled her name out of the draft, entered the portal and she might not even be the most sought after player in the portal, this one may be.

Taylor 100% returning (presume pending a waiver for her first year)?

We definitely need a big in the portal, we can’t replace Yokie with one player but hopefully Taylor + Lester/Sanchez improvement + portal big can = adequate

I think the ideal scenario would be a taller/starting caliber big so that Taylor stays in the "first off the bench" type of role. It's kind of crazy, but Taylor only averaged 12 minutes per game during the season (only 11 minutes during Big 12 play). In my mind, it was more.

At any rate, I'm sure it won't happen, but a player like this would be perfect:

Any thoughts on the best site to monitor the portal activity?
