Do we have any help coming on the defensive line?
« on: October 10, 2010, 10:28:57 AM »
Meshak Williams is supposed to be good, right?

Harvill is merely us sticking with a failed attempt to get Frazier, no D1 offers that didn't also target Frazier, and only one other BCS offer....IMO, that means he doesn't help us for quite a while.

Lamonte Clark is a sign and place.

Marquel Bryant weighs 215 pounds.

There haven't been any updates with positive KSU mentions in some time.  What gives?  :dunno:

I'll bet he is done.  IMO, it's not good to count on dudes with broken backs.

What else we got?

Q:  Do we have any help coming on the defensive line?

A:  No.  None at all.  Meshak is no Chris Johnson.

and although this is a DL thread, I'm voting for Sams to be moved to LB, even though I think Tuggle is kind of garbage.

Agreed.  Sams to the saftey/lb thing....let's use him the way the SEC schools wanted to use him (Lamark Brown lesson here, folks).  If Tuggle is a slightly less dumb Allen Webb, we'll be improved at QB with him.

So, correct me if I am wrong here gang, we can't count on our DL getting better next year unless we land a Juco DT in the next 5 months?

not even a safety/lb...it needs to be A. Brown and D. Sams to replace Ginger and Slaughter.  Then see if Pease can play Safety.

Is year 1 Sams better than year 2 Slaughter?

-Harold jr
-Kibble jr
-Boyd  jr
-Guidry sr
-Kirk  sr
-Dowling rFr
-Voelker/Diesel (count as 1 together) jr/jr
New guys to contribute/get coached up
-Meshack Williams* jr
-Sam Harvill Fr
-Adam Davis, (prob not though)
-Justin Williams* jr

-Clark & Bryant??? I dk, l but Bryant coming from Dallas-Skyline will at the very least have some swagger to him,
*- these guys will obviously step right in from day 1.

Anyone know anything about this Oladipo Famimolu guy? Never even heard of him

Cornelius Carradine sure would look great oppy of Harold next year.
Was Maurice Couch really in MHK/BSFS Thursday night?

If this makes you   :horrorsurprise:/ ......... word of advice: DO NOT look at the LB depth chart/commit list

Where did Justin Williams go for the year?  He didn't qualify, right?  And the LBs shouldn't be too bad.  Walker, Slaughter, Brown, and hopefully a juco or 2 might be serviceable.  We still have like 11 schollies to fill, maybe more.

@Pete-  where did this info about Clark being a sign and place come from?  (Besides Dax' post from yesterday, like the rest of your post). I haven't seen anything yet that points to him having to go the juco route.  Any idea which juco we would place him at?  Would he have to be there the full 2 years?

I haven't heard that much.  There's a kid from Blinn, Dominic something,  Carradine out of Butler, and a whole lot of, "I have no idea who else they're targeting."

That position group is piss your pants frightening if we were to end recruiting today.  There needs to be at least one or two JUCO DTs signed to go along with the prep players already committed.  We also need at least one more end from JUCO as well.

I'm hoping Slaughter/Walker and Brown will significantly improve the LB corps. Harold and Williams for DL. No idea who else will help that area. Safeties are a huge void of anything resembling talent. Our corners are both seniors, so there goes any positives we had there.

Our whole D is gonna continue to be horrible. Not just the line.

I pray to God Darious Thomas gets his crap together and gets eligible again, otherwise, we're all kinds of mumped at corner.

Next year's defense looks like it could be worse than this year's, and all we seem to be recruiting are offensive players.  There better be more JUCO defensive players being signed than dollar bills raining down at a JC peeler joint come signing day.

Totally forgot about that Burns kid (safety) that transferred in.  He was pretty damn good @ SJSU.  He should be able to bolster our safety corps.
