We'll finish 7-5, maybe 8-4.  Really.
:kstatriot:

Last night showed us we are light years from being a Top 10 caliber team.  Not even close.

But it also showed me NU is probably the best team in the league.  Granted, other teams will have better schemes/players to limit NU, but as much as the team speed killed us last night, NU's fronts on both sides of the ball killed us.  NU did not have to load the box much to stop Thomas, their LBs have a ton of speed to make plays, and their secondary allows them to cover man and not allow teams to throw with much success.  Offensively, they swallowed up our smallish front, got bodies on LBs, and forced our defensive players (LBs and Ss) to make one on one tackles in space.  We failed miserably, though some of that is correctable b/c we often took terrible angles.

Simply put, there are few other teams that will present to us the same talent level and speed issues as NU.  Sure, lots of other teams have good players here and there, but not the collection that NU does IMHO.  Including UT.

So I expect that the rest of the year...
- we'll get blown out at least one more time, maybe twice, but not as bad as last night.
- we'll win a game we don't expect to win.
- we'll beat a couple teams "we're supposed to beat".  UNT, KU, and CU likely candidates, but there are others.
- we'll finish 3-5/4-4 in the league.
- overall it will be a successful season.

None of this makes getting throttled last night suck any less, but things will get better.  Again, we aren't even close to what we hoped, possibly competing for a North title, but we aren't as bad as we showed last night either.  Similar (but not as good) to K-State teams circa 94-96 ish.

All this JMHO.

I agree with much of this, but what doe this mean "Similar (but not as good) to K-State teams circa 94-96 ish" ?

I get the "but not as good" part, because everyone of those teams would CRUSH this team.  What is the similarity you are citing?  :dunno:

I hope you're right, _FAN.

However, my concern is that we may have already won our close games with UCLA and UCF and Iowa State, and now the pendulum swing to the other side especially with teams with athletes on offense getting a blueprint for how to exploit our undersized, slow defense. I hope I'm wrong.

The thing is, no coach needed last night to have a blueprint for how to exploit our undersized, slow defense.   We didn't learn anything new about our team last night.  Our weaknesses are glaring.

I did learn a hell of a lot about Nebraska, they're a top 5 National Championship type squad.  I had no idea how complete that team is until I saw them play last night.

congrats on knowing how much we sucked before the game.
i think you missed the point.  we all have known we're one dimensional , that CCQ can't throw downfield, and that we can't stop the run.  what's new today?
I guess what's new to me is that our defense would be THAT bad.  I didn't think our defense would be worse than last years to this degree.
Our crappy run defense just played one of the best teams in the country.
DAMMIT!

Its a matter of degree.  I new we had a bad run defense, I didn't think it was one of the worst though.  I though we were slightly below average!

PLUS

I am not 100% sure Nub is quite that good yet (top 5 Nat'l Champ team).

Well, they were #7 this week and look like the favorite to win the Big 12.  They win the conference and they will have a real good chance to play for the MNC.

validation.

this.

we play 3 teams of equal or more suckiness (KU, CU, UNT) out of the remaining 7 and all three of those are on the road. the rest of the teams are better than us at nearly every position.  the point is that there is no hope for this team, none.  and further there's no hope for this program under snyder.  we have nothing on the roster or in the recruiting class that will make any kind of difference (gmafb with tuggle, he's garbage).  we will not win 7 games moving forward while LHC Bill Snyder is head coach.  last year was schedule driven.

UT has given up 500 yds on the ground in their last two games.  UCLA didn't do crap in the air but were still able to rush for 260.  Nubb shouldn't have much trouble running the ball against UT.

Yeah. When most people calm down (around Monday or so) they'll come back to this. I can't believe everyone was so surprised by how that game went.  :dunno:

Again something said that makes sense.  U guys do know we played a legitimate 6th ranked team in the nation!

We're going to ass rape KU.  :kstatriot:

Last year we got prison raped one game and then came back the next week and sodomized A+M with a mop handle.  Maybe we'll do it again this year.  :dunno:

I guess what's new to me is that our defense would be THAT bad.  I didn't think our defense would be worse than last years to this degree.

This is what perplexes me the most.  We all know we are deficient in talent and outmatched athletically.  What I am amazed at is how we are considerably worse than we were last year two years under Snyder and haven't played a road game yet.

I don't care how good Nebraska is.  Allowing a team to rush for nearly 500 yards on your home turf is absolutely dumbfounding.  That is 1989 bad.  That was the worst defensive performance I have ever seen from a Snyder coached team.  And again, we haven't even faced a road environment.

I also can't rationalize the impact of losing our only true game changing threat at wide receiver is going to have.  This can't be underestimated IMO.

Bottom line for me, is until Snyder can prove he can win a conference game on the road again, I see 6 wins as the absolute best scenario.

you guys are lost.

This is similar to KU fans who said 0-12 after KU got beat by NDSU.  It's one game, folks.
thanks Beems, seems like these retards thought we were going to stop the run or something.

we won't play anyone close to being as good as the cornhuskers

I think we're vastly underestimating ku at home.

We'll probably be a 3 point dog.  Actually don't know that there legitimately is a game on the schedule we'll be favored in from this point forward.

I love how you foooocking retards are taking so much pleasure in our team losing.  I wish ball cancer in you all.  And some prison rape, too.

I hate watching our team lose, which is why it's time for bill to retire.

Yeah, we should never lose another game again!   :pbj:

Maybe!  We'll probably have the Pin Stripe Bowl hanging in the balance, so that'll help.
