Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

Was talking about Draman Diarra.  Although he did play a big part in 59-55 in Lawrence, so maybe I should lay off the Frenchy.

I have a good buddy who plays baseball at Cloud County and he can't stop talking about Freddy.  He got to watch a lot of their practices.  And he uses the words "real deal" all of the time.  Says he weighs about 275lbs and that his basketball coach loves to throw out Dexter Pittman comparisons when discussing Freddy.  But claims he is much more nimble and agile. His strongest asset according to my friend is his footwork.  He claims that if Freddy catches it down low then you might as well put two points on the board.  His back to the basket moves are just fantastic. He also has a nice mid-range jump shot that he can consistently make out to about 17ft. And yeah I know he's going against god awful competition during practice, but still it's at least encouraging to hear this kind of stuff. His weakness is his defense as of right now.  Just doesn't bring 100% effort on every play, but I'm sure that will change once he starts working with Frank.

Oh and my friend also claims that a Chicago Bulls scout has been at 3 or 4 different practices checking out the big guy.  I just hope he is more successful than our last Thunderbird from Cloud County.

Why do I picture Omar Samhan every time I read a write up on Freddy?

Not even a mention from McLemore on the latest Rivals update.  So, apparently when Frank was getting contract advice from Snyder awhile back, OB slipped in some recruiting advice as well.

Quote
Ben McLemore- He isn't sure who has offered him, but McLemore has Kansas clearly at the top of his list. Behind Kansas are Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Illinois, Tennessee and Providence. McLemore's high school is closing down after this year, and he is slated to attend Oak Hill Academy next year.

All we ever did was call, not a surprise he wouldn't be interested.  Just like it isn't a surprise Snyder is sucking on the recruiting trail.  :blank:

Curtis has told us not to get our hopes up on ANY DCA kids at the present time.  Apparently there is no bad blood, just no one with any interest in us or vice versa.

$400K has officially run his course, IMO.

Also, found this in a desperate search for KSU recruiting info.

U wanna make a wager? Are you guessing or is someone telling you this? The only people that stood between MD and Cook were Roy Williams and Dalonte Hill. The latter has been removed from the equation and the former will be on Thursday. Actually, Roy knows he will not recruit Cook anymore but it will not be formally known until after the UNC banquet.

koppe22 dug up some fairly boring names now on the rivals database.  better than nothing.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/miami/basketball/recruiting/player-Forrest-Robinson-93769
http://rivals.yahoo.com/miami/basketball/recruiting/player-Jonathan-Holmes-99386
http://rivals.yahoo.com/miami/basketball/recruiting/player-Rasham-Suarez-111374
http://rivals.yahoo.com/miami/basketball/recruiting/player-Jarvis-Threatt-108321

suarez is from puerto rico, and played in iowa and at findlay for short times prior to being wherever he is now.

suarez was mentioned on scout!

Suarez was listed at a HS in TN and a HS in Georgia, too.  Seems like a good fit for us.

edit:  apparently he finished in ATL area:

I'm not trying to be a tard, but I don't usually make any determinations about who we're recruiting until they've gone through the summer AAU season following their junior year.

A lot of kids, like Tony Mitchell, will make a big jump after the summer session and attending various camps.

I'm sure someone will correct me on this, but my observation has been that there will be a lot of movement in recruiting rankings, offers, etc. after the summer.

I will submit this into the discussion on dogsh*t recruiting...

Rivals has us listed with interest on 17 guys in 2011.  I honestly don't think that's right.

Now, I'm wondering if the recruiting is really bad, or if the reporting of it is what shows a lack of interest.

I mean outside of calling Art Alvarez, hang out at the Manhattan Classic, or follow up on a lead found on a message board what has anyone done to follow Kansas State recruiting?

Again, not trying to be a tard, but since JMart left, Kansas State recruiting seems to have gone downhill too.  Coincidence?

That has already been noticed, but does not at all explain the issue.  If you read national recruiting from top prospects even the mention of KSU interest has declined over the last 2 classes.

Among curent top 150 there is next to zero interest...it's pathetic.

i think there is a small recruiting decline effect (loss of dca connection), but there is a far greater lack-of-coverage effect.

i've run this idea past several of the kstate media, and basically had it shot down.  but i still also wonder if the staff isn't making an active effort to conceal recruiting efforts for some unknowable reason.  i know it sounds stupid, but i still wonder it.
