None of the players Frank have run off have been "huge losses" when you look at them individually, but when you look at them overall, they make up a big hit on the program. This trend of replacing 3 star juniors with 3 star freshmen/shitty jucos just isn't a good formula for creating a winning program when you can't beat tourney teams for recruits.

I mean, I hate Irving more than any player in the Frank era but even I don't see the point of running him off. Sure, he's not all-league, but he will be a hell of a lot more successful playing FrankBall than anyone Frank could possibly bring in the spring.

well said.

On the other hand, I don't think losing him would be a huge loss because, frankly, when you look at his kenpom numbers, they look marginally worse than other players in the freshman/sophomore class.

this.  it isn't like we're going to run off irving/russell for some top 25/50 recruit.  we're going to run russell/irving off and pick up another russell/irving or some juco guy or someone worse.  I kinda wish that frank would have a discussion with turgeon on roster management.  a&m is the model, imo (sans the awful scheduling and offensive philosophy).

So you'd rather have a perennial bench dweller who might see minutes every fifth game if he happens to pull his head out of his ass and perform in practice than a wild card juco player who may or may not pan out?  Just curious.  I'm not saying I like a revolving door but when a kid consistently shows that he's not willig to do what it takes to see the floor, than he may as well be shown the door.

A couple of recruits we were in contact with as recently as last fall but haven't seen anything connecting them to KSU lately, Todd Mayo(6'3" combo G, Notre Dame Prep in MA) and Carlos Emory(6'6" combo F Howard JC in TX) have made commitments. Mayo to Marquette and Emory to Oregon. We'll see how Buzz's potential matriculation may affect Mayo.

Apparently, coaches still were this morning. Regarding travel itinerary, I have no clue, but using my extremely low NCAATIIQ, I'd think the whole crew would want to head out by at least tomorrow.

Couple new names:

Matt Glover  6'4" 195 combo G, Sheridan JC(WY), FR yr stats don't really jump out at you, team was 24-10.

http://www.njcaa.org/colleges_college_player.cfm?sid=4&collegeid=1628&category=Roster&slid=2&teamid=109337&athleteid=312170

"The schools now showing interest besides Iowa include Rutgers, Nebraska, South Carolina, Kansas State, Utah State, Idaho, Long Beach State, and Hawaii.

Glover has a visit tentatively set up to Utah State next week, pending their performance in the NCAA Tournament this week."

(Profile says class of '12 and he has only played 1 yr of JC ball, but he has qualified academically and is eligible to go DI next yr with 3 yrs remaining)
